Here is a new patch, with lots of changes to UI! I hope you liked them, but if you don't - feel free to leave your feedback here. I will try to attach the list of new assets for last patch here later.
Not all changes made it to the game, but i hope they will in the future.
Special thanks i want to say to SneakEye and Kasarov! Their help in assets creating and brainstorming is invaluable!
Could we please change back the crew of the flak emplacement and the kübelwagen. The vehicle and ost mg crew models looked fine in imo. The winter volksgrenadier looks especially weird in the kübelwagen. The detection passive ability for the IR StG Obers should also be removed since it has the same position as the reinforce button. Maybe it could be an icon on the portrait.
It's more weird to see tank crew members in millitary car, which usually was operated by regular soldiers. Same goes for M3A1 and other light vehicles.
Tank crew model should be used only in medium and heavy vehicles, because they requires special training and seems logic there.
For Flak 38. It is OKW unit and should use OKW crew model (like HMG 34, RW 43 and others). iirc only pak 43 still uses ost models, but i would change them too on OKW alternative.
All above is my personal opinion.
Agree with obers remark, it should be adjusted.
P.S.S. Now M3A1 is my favorite unit, just becuase it looks more essential with soviet riflemen model.
My main issue with that would be that the Penals, although their portrayal is at-odds with their role, do have some things that fit the bill. Tossing bags of explosives and charting tanks with Anti-Tank rifles both seem like very 'suicide-squad' type attacks which would seem odd for Soviet Riflemen to be doing. That's the sort of thing you give to Penal Troops who will probably get themselves killed or Elite Troops who at least have the experience and training to survive such madness. It would also be a shame to see the unit completely deleted, since I do quite like their voices and attitudes.
I see it in that way:
1. Penals and their voicelines goes to Commissar (since their voicelines sounds like you speak with stereotyped commissar) and penals replace guards 3D model in that squad.
2. Penals as unit in tier 1 renamed into Riflemen and get voicelines from conscripts (since they have voicelines with "Strelky") and Guards 3D model without poncho (since they have voicelines with "Strelky").
In that case we have:
1. Commissar with voicelines (currently has none)
2. No stereotyped units in core tech
3. Red Army finally got unit, which can be called as backbone of the army in term of design (mainline infantry unit like riflemen, IS, grenadiers and etc.)
4. Penals assets still in use.
I can’t say i am for additional squads to the Soviet tech, but i really want to see Penals redesigned visually to be like regular soviet Riflemen (changed model and adjusted description and etc.). 3D model like on attached screenshot in post #1.
The other vehicles were winter skinned (different skin pattern). It has the winter portrait but not the skin.
This bug existed in 32bit version too and only on this map. Other maps works as intended. Just quick double check:
1. Created custom lobby and checked Rzhev. As you can see, i've loaded Starbuck winter skin in witner slots.
2. Launched the game. And on loading screen you can see, that selected skins were taken from summer slots.
3. In the game, vehicles don't have any winter effects on them, except the winter tracks
Some UI issues with rating lobby:
1. buttons to switch the slot(on the left) don't work in rating lobby. Works well in custom
2. Mappool still not occupy the area for it. Green square shows what it should be occupy, and red shows which area is occupied atm.
The map looks correct. The flag that sets the vehicle winter skins is the USES_ICE flag and we have ice (GREEN). When that flag is set you also get the white background portraits (GREEN).
Both vehicles show snow skins (BLUE).
So I am not sure what to make of that.
I can approve this bug with summer skin, Kasarov also said it uses some summer assets on the map. The rest (including portraits) is fine
In other words, the game uses camos from “summer” slots on this map
Small update for soviet airborne guards.
Fixed brightness and changed color for collar tabs on blue.
Mini-icon got updated uniform and desharped shieldsymbol to match with other call-in icons.
