A unit that is designed to not actually be a front line unit shouldn't be priced the same as those that are. Also if it's the volks match up that's the issue it makes sense to use it as context because buffing cons to address the volks match-up breaks the grens matchup, then you buff grens to match up against cons and it breaks other matchup. Volks are over performing compared to units more expensive and relatively priced making possibly well balanced units underperform relatively. And that is why VG should be toned down before these buffs to the USF and UKF that sent balance into another spiral. Balance changes should be made vs a benchmark faction which is Ostheer in this case. One should first toned down VG (and penals) and then see if conscripts need any change. In: COH2 Balance

Consistency is good but they really work good enough already. There are bigger fish to fry. No they do not work fine imo. Luch can decimate units in cover in range 9 while it useless at range 10, Centaur on the other hand completely ignores yellow cover while at vet 1 it has the option to use no scatter/no accuracy fire. 222 can decimate armored cars, luch can be hunted down by even m3 with AT infantry inside due to modifier vs vehicles. AEC decimates Ostwind that has a hard time even vs T70 due to low accuracy and low scatter that does not allow the unit to get collision hits, while Centaur can deal with a Puma. 222 most AI capability comes from coaxial (unless the main guns shot hit world object next to target) which does around double the damage than luch's coaxial. 222 uses mostly AOE on its main gun yet it gain accuracy as vet bonus (which mostly benefits it's coaxial) And the list can go on... All this add complexity for particular reason. There are far simpler solution for fixing the performance of this weapons while keeping the behavior similar. In: COH2 Balance

Super heavy tanks need to re-balanced separately and in order to that they should have large target size and high armor value. Medium tanks on the other would have normal target size and low Armour values. Unit that are meant to counter Super heavy tanks like FF, SU-85, M36, Panther would have toggle AP rounds with high penetration, low accuracy, low ROF to fight Super heavies. The same unit when facing mediums would use normal rounds with lower penetration, better accuracy. Then these value can be used to balance the performance of this vs mediums and Super heavies separately. In: COH2 Balance

As far as I know only Luch uses the point blank mechanism but Centaur is using better modifier vs cover. The vehicles serve different roles (gameplay) in different factions (variety). The fact that they happen to share a similar (not the same) gun IRL doesn't matter for the game. It's exactly the same for the HMG 42 dealing suppression while the LMG 42 only does damage despite being the exact same weapon IRL. But whatever. Can you tell me which of the following guns use accuracy, which uses AOE, which has modifier vs vehicles and which uses the point blank mechanism? Can also tell me who long it took to find that that info? Centaur 222 Luch Ostwind Point here is that one can achieve the different roles for these units with a single approach/solution which will greatly increase how user friendly the game is. For instance if Luch and 222 need to have different performance vs vehicles they can simply have different penetration values... In: COH2 Balance

Centaur, Luch, 222, Ostwind,...use different mechanism the that make them behave completely differently. The could all use a single mechanism and have DPS adjusted accordingly the same way the DPS of the HMG-34 crew was moved to gun from the crew. In: COH2 Balance

Different mechanisms are used for either variety or different gameplay purposes. There are three different 88mm L/71 guns, Tommies Bren and UC Bren, 3 different types of MG 42 (with up to 7 different versions), 3 different types of G43, almost all standard issue rifles having up to three or more different versions, do I need to go on? And I don't know why you keep responding, in addition I did not bring up the performance of 222's 2cm gun J did. I simply pointed that it is inconstant. There this no case of variety or game play here. It is simply different solutions to similar issues that are confusing for the user who needs to know exactly how each of these weapons behaves to get the maximum out of them. If the fragile RW crew had its target size "brought in-line" and the HMG-34 crew had its "weapon brought in line" for consistency reasons the same should be done about these weapons. In: COH2 Balance

Add to that the fact that the 2cm cannon does a nontrivial amount of damage to infantry (and tears them apart if theyre on the wrong side of solid cover), and the 222 actually has pretty good performance against infantry. Actually the performance of the 2cm guns is a mess in this game since the units using them (222, luch, Centaur) use different mechanism for no good reason. In a sense the same can be said for the Ostwind's gun that although higher caliber under-performs. In: COH2 Balance
