Thread: Reliability Units8 Feb 2014, 13:38 PM Talk about inconsistent, I was playing with Osttruppen earlier, at one point Osttruppen in heavy cover killed all members of a Penal squad with one survivor, and in another they killed 4 members with no losses. Same conditions, massively different outcomes :v: In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Soviet mines needs at least 2x cost for its effectiveness8 Feb 2014, 03:55 AM About mines, keep Soviet Mines at 40 munitions, I think the Tellermine 43 (Anti-Tank Mines) should be reduced to 40mun as well. Ost is more munitions heavy than Sov with some exceptions, and these mines will only trigger on Tanks. S-mines were terrifying and widely used, but in-game they're a waste of munitions, good for a jump-scare before the enemy drives a scout car through the field and calls it a day. They should be placeable in smaller groups for 40mum and severely hurt or kill infantry that try to walk through. Possibly stun light vehicles so people stop using light armour as mine-sweepers. Assault Grenadiers are proof that 5 men squads are so much less likely to wipe than 4 men squads. I'm not sure how you'd balance an ISU that can kill infantry and armour with ease, even though that's what it was famous for.. In: COH2 Balance

If your units stepped onto 2 mines in a succession, that explains the squad wipe. Increasing the cost? You're talking about nerfing one of the only effective and guaranteed AT weapons in the Soviet arsenal. And Soviets have to plant a crapton of them if they want any chance to go toe to toe with Ost armor. Nearly everything the Soviets have are AI based and not AT based. Zis<Pak; IS2<Tiger; T34/85<P4; ISU152<Elephant; etc, but they all > Infantry...which isa problem against Ost late game when it becomes mainly armor battles (not to say they should be equivalent to each other, but their units are near identical in roster type and CP requirements). That's one of the major faults in the game that should be changed anyway imo. Why is one faction getting the best armour (with the exception of the SU-85) and AT while the other gets the larger squads and the best AI? Who thought that was a good idea? It should be spread equally among the two factions. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Reliability Units8 Feb 2014, 00:49 AM Do shots even calculate as hit/miss anymore? I remember hearing they all "miss" but the spread is so tight that they have a high chance to hit. It was supposedly done that way to fix the 'homing missile' bug from CoH1, where a "hit" projectile would curve to follow a moving vehicle, even turning at 90 degree angles sometimes.
