I was referring to the "get wiped out or cross the road without any casualties", which made it sound far more extreme than it actually is, the difference between extra health damage or actually losing a model (as opposed to losing one or two in vCoH). |
Well a HP buff and cost reduction would be too much, I think. |
In COH days if you try to cross road with rifles to attack volks in green cover, you will lose that battle 100% of the time. You may lose 1 or none volks.
In COH 2 if you walk over red cover road with Cons to attack Grens in gren cover, you can either get wiped out or cross the road without any casualties, get to green cover and wipe the Gren squad.
Depending how the RNG God likes you.
Not entirely true. You're more likely to make it without losing any men in CoH2, RNG decides the fight whether you charged over red cover or not because of how equal Grens vs Cons are, and Gren armour itself being RNG.
The real reason you lose men charging in CoH1 and not in CoH2 is health differences. In CoH1, Riflemen had 55 health. In CoH2, Conscripts (and just about every unit in the game) have 80.
1.) Change ram to 100% chance to crew shock both tanks + some minorish damage, based on size of the rammed thing.
2.) Give t34/76 a munitions based upgrade to t34/85. Presto, suddenly they're more AT capable and scale better into the late game. This paradigm worked extremely well in CoH1 with Shermans.
I would rather the T-34/85 come from T3, either costing more or requiring an unlock upgrade (like what PE has to do to get their Panzer IV).
Agree on the ram = stun though. |
It's also good to keep in mind, the IS-2 is AI and AT. The only way it could be more AT is to have a faster firing gun, but you'd need to take away it's infantry fighting ability. As someone else already explained before, you can still beat a Tiger by shooting, backing up to reload, then repeating. |
There is no side armour in this game by the way, only front / back. Same with CoH1. |
True, but keep in mind it's also an amazing infantry killer to. I like to think of it as a Panther and Sturmpanzer IV combined into one unit. It lacks the health of a Tiger, but has the kick of a howitzer with the punch of an anti-tank gun. |
And that's why there should be an option to use AP round for IS-2, HE round for Tiger. Say, 50 munition, one time fire, like Target Weak Point. But nooooo!!!
Well the problem with that is the IS-2 already has maximum penetration, the Tiger and Panther just have heavy armour.
And before you say anything, the IS-2 had heavier armour and higher gun damage than the Tiger and Panther do. In a 1v1 frontal slug-fest, it's up to the RNG God's to decide the winner. |
I'm going to contest the Pershing = IS-2 bit. The Pershing was more comparable to the vCoH Tiger imo, it had good health and armour, not as good, but it worked. It had more health than a Panther tank, which was weaker than it's CoH2 counterpart. On the other hand, the IS-2 has great armour but the same health as a Panther (which is more than CoH), but mounts a much more powerful gun (max penetration, high damage, wide radius, the strongest in the game imo).
Comparisons are difficult because even units that were in CoH1 differ from their CoH2 counterparts, but overall I feel the IS-2 is probably better than the Pershing, because it can take on Tanks or Infantry with ease, only struggling against Panthers, Tigers, and Tank Destroyers (much like the Pershing did).
I'm with you on the last point though, I wanted the Jackson so bad, I was never quite sure why they chose the underpowered M10 as the US TD. |
IS-2 is the worst of the Red Army tank in this game.
IS-2 was produced in 3 times more than the Tigers.
Tiger crews were forbidden to engage in a duel with the IS-2, with only numerical superiority and ambushes.
The game Germans can make up to 6 Tigers. Russian 2 IS-2 for the game.
In IS-2 has no chance against Tiger 1on1.
Relic WTF?
ISU-152 could kill Elefants, but in game it's the reverse. Some things must be done for balance. They decided to make the IS-2 a breakthrough tank rather than a tank destroyer. It has strong frontal armour, it can decimate infantry squads, and it can take on Panthers. Think of the IS-2 as a combination of the Panther and Sturmpanzer IV, the Panther is a tank-killer with strong penetration and high damage, the Sturmpanzer IV is an infantry killer with a wide explosive radius, and the IS-2 does both in one. |
Yeah I guess that dynamic is lost with T3 Panzer IV? The first time I played way back in the beta, I was actually pretty shocked that T3 gave Panzer IV, it seemed so early for them to show up. |
