85 is a very very good tank. Especially with mark target and crew repairs, it's insane.
It supposed to be a battle group so they can work together flanking. And call in units should be costly or it's too easy to ignore tier buildings.
If you stall waiting for enough CP to call these, it's a advantage to have dual because they have a higher shock value. Rather than calling one and having to wait for cool down to call a second. |
It's interesting in that it's quite versatile and could be played many ways.
t34 is not a waste along side Sherman. It has better AI. And the fuel ability can be used to call an early T34 way before 9cp. Or even an early T70 given the light vehicle meta. |

I echo what flyingsmonster said in that it's always been an amazing unit. The increase to AT it has seen does not make it thaaaat much better considering mark target has also been nerfed, which was/is the main way to make it perform vs armour.
Main reason people did not get them is because it's harder macro wise to either wait for 12 cp with no t3/4 or to get a tier but be able to stay in the game and conserve enough fuel. People just found it easier to spam T34s or go for the earlier cheaper heavies. |
SU85 is always nice to have, but I feel its a little expensive to go T4 for heavy AT, when the shermans main role is AT.
For me, I feel its nice to go really aggresive, with fast T34s, then shermans to back them up. This gives a really mobile tank force, with a little more bite than normal. And where Shermans begin to struggle, youve got ram on hand then. And yeah, Id back this with probably one ZiS.
Doing this makes great use of spare munis/ fuel ability.
Only the M5 call in is kind of a waste, but maybe its still worth it for the guards. |
Ah I thought you couldnt upgrade quad package, but just played again and you can. Its just the Guards which have short range weapons and hence no upgrades.
T34/76s and Shermans are not a bad combo imo, because the T34 are cheaper, come sooner and have better AI. The shermans then arrive to allow a little more AT.
If you play with no tier T3/4 (sherman spam), you dont even need the fuel ability, because you float fuel anyway. |
Well after 1st getting excited looking at the doc, having had a play, Im left slightly scratching my head wondering what the best way is to play out this doctrine.
I used no tier buildings, which worked all right, but I really missed some indirect fire. It would have worked much better with a ZiS and mortar(s), and a lot of MINES.. lots and lots and lots of them. This doc floats muni like a mother, so I think a second engie could be a good investment. If you go conscript heavy with DHkas, its easy to have early map control, thats when 2 engies for mines would be good.
So just T2 might be best way to play it.
However I feel like it might be nice to use the fuel ability to supplement a T3/4.
T4 seems kinda pointless along side the sherman, unless you just wanted Katushkas.
T3 might be nice for a mix of 34/75s and Shermans, using the fuel ability to its max. This kinda wastes the M5 call in.. but I guess thats no biggie.
Its a shame the M5 and guard call ins can not be upgraded, as that would be a very useful channel for all those floated munis.. but I guess they decided it would have been imba. |

Elefant is not the only option, consider a howie. Placed well so it's not easy to get Los on it. With all that fuel tied up in the ISU, soviets might try a desperate t34 or inf squad to get Los for a bomb strike. But this should be dealt with easily enough.
Also of course an ISU arriving swings the battle significantly, just like any heavy tank. |
"Doctrinal and penal battalions" .. Lul wut?
Like Germans do not have access to PGs quickly and easily, none doctrinally. |
A lot of bitching gong on.
People would moan if relic didn't work on patches.
People would moan if relic released patches too soon unfinished.
People would moan if patch notes were released early, because they would judge them without knowing the full picture, or assuming things wrongly.
Be patient people, it's not nice reading for anyone and adds nothing positive. It's their game, we might all be arm chair developers.. But that's where it ends.
They are the ones at the pointy end actually having to deal with real life problems. |
Im fairly sure that after the mortar fires off one or two shots it will stop firing as it has lost its target. Think if you click attack on a unit with a tank, and their units then escapes into FoW, the tank will not follow.
Cover still works against indirect fire... sort of. Its still directional, so will protect against hits on the other side of cover. However what is more devastating is the fact that units will bunch up in cover, and if the hit lands in or behind the cover, there is no cover, so its going to hurt.. the whole squad.
So generally, indirect fire is a good counter to covered troops. |
