Right now, every point of popcap is equal. It reduces mp gain by 1.5. By making it dynamic you can either increase or decrease this value based on how much pop you have. In case of the mod, the popcap penalty is inferior at lower values and bigger after 50 pop. But TBH it cautiously set so low that you would barely notice it. Concept wise i really like it. With this, and what i had read from Bao/Relicaa mod* regarding economy, i think there's more room to discuss possibles ways to depth the economy system of future CoH title. *In case anyone haven't read it, basically popcap mp upkeep is dynamic and repairing incurs in a mp gain penalty to offset pure vehicles builds. Sure, they got their nostalgia money and people my age who were unable to move on with their lives out of childhood got what they wanted, but they have dropped it literally next week. Because there was an actual active multiplayer playerbase, who still makes new mods/maps, have a competitive scene and the only thing they needed for the re master to succeed was actually releasing a working game (the online) compared to the HD version. They successfully migrated the voobly/HD players into a single game. C&C had to somehow create new players out of thin air. In: Lobby |

The point was that mark target (which doesn't even modify dmg) and artillery are not the reason the unit is been used nor that it generally survives or get's rebuild in the late game to use this abilities. Looks awkwardly at 3 hour match on DOTA2... While they are longer than SC2*/WC3, AoE2 have pretty much long games like CoH2. *I think the average time goes down heavily due to cheese n all ins. Though the late game is achieved way sooner. As far as length time goes for COH, i think that VP bleed could be adjusted in future games, in order to speed up the game as far it goes when a player/team is defending 1VP vs 2VP and not trying at all to contest and stalling. this idea has come up multiple times over the years and i'd say it would be worth a try at least. some adjustments to vet requirements and repair speed might be necessary but apart from that, i don't see any truly game-breaking potential if this were to be implemented. I don't think vet adjustments are required after AT xp gain has already been nerfed. I do think the AT upgrade should remove the bonus repair speed from the sweeper upgrade. In: COH2 Balance |
