Thread: Is USF punishing to play still?14 Oct 2015, 16:54 PM It probably depends on your play style. If your style is to rely on an army of properly combined arms, USF does not work so well. If you like to run a mainly infantry based army with a a few vehicles ortanks sprinkled on the top OTOH, USF is right. I see some here mention the USF as micro intensive, but on some points it's actually saving you micro. Crew vehicle repairs for example saves a lot of time and messing around to have engies meet vehicles. In: Lobby

There, crew will repair and automatically hop into the vehicle when its finished being repaired. You have the notification by the vehicle being there, ready at 100% health. #micro Obviously but 1)I don't know about your games, but mine are NOISY. The timid 'repair finished' (or whatever) is easily missed. 2) Getting in and out of the vehicle isn't the issue. It's knowing how long repairing time is remaining. It's hard to tell by a glance just by looking at the vehicle Health, as some suggest. The crew or engineer progress bar is much more visible. 3) Your method does not work for other vehicles - including abandoned ones and crewweapons. This is also about making the game consistent. It becomes more playable when then same kind of actions follow the same rules and the game gives the same kind of feed-back to them. It's an unecessary extra brain-time to have to remember one repair regime for vehicles and another for Buildings. This is quite similar to the discussion about a reverse gear, which was ardently opposed by many because the option to drive in reverse was already in the game. But that was not the point. Thread: Wanted: Engineer repair status7 Oct 2015, 08:42 AM When engineers (of any factions) go build something, you'll see their build pProgress over their icon on the top of the screen. This is very usefull so you don't have to monitor them to know when they are done. Unfortunately this does not work for vehicle repair. I don't know if it's possible, but it would certainly be usefull if engineers and vehicle crews repairing would also display a progress bar. Please? In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: old CoH fan, how does CoH2 compare?7 Oct 2015, 08:36 AM A lot of neglect and unfairness in many of the above posts IMO. Sure the basic game design is the same. But Relic has added a lot of options and details in the gameplay that makes the whole game sort of more complete. Just one example: True Sight. No longer can you stand behind a hedgerow and observe the enemy on the other side. And now you can make real ambushes. Like an AT-gun waiting undetected around the corner for a tank! A lot of sound effects were improved over time. The battle is much more alive now than it was in vCOH. ONLY ONE THING STAYED EXACTLY THE SAME: Players still bitch to no end over sort of everything... I have no statistics to prove that. It's just my experience that I have an easier run before ~1600 GMT. You are right that quite a few of the top players are european or asian. But that's not the necessarily the ones I and others here are talking about. They are ~top 500 which can be tough enough if you are average. My guess is that while Europe and Asia may have quite a few top players, their player base is still smaller and the average player skill/experience is lower. Skill and high micro is not a racial trait, mind you. I play against a lot of players with chicken-bone names who have next to no skill and sluggish micro. In: Lobby

Although there's a reason the top dozen or so people have inflated win rates. They play a lot of games, and so a large chunk of them are off peak hours where they get easy wins like this. Yes, the time where you play also matters. If you have the opportunity to play when most of America is off-line, your winning chances are much better because competition is lower. No disparagement of any particular other countries is intended, but that's how it is in my experience. And I played in vCOH too. In: Lobby
