Thread: Operation Barbarossa: Schildkröte Impossible on General?14 Apr 2018, 15:57 PM Is this the defend against waves mission? It's rather hard to beat. If I can remember it correctly rushing flames is key. Wiring off access routes is big too. The only way I beat that mission on General is by sorta glitching the match. The first few waves can't deal damage to your HQ, so if you abandon the HQ and hide for a bit on the map edge you can stack some MP before things get crazy as the waves come after the last one is fully eliminated. An HE sherman round can FRONTALLY penetrate a panther with enough luck. Something that would NEVER have occured. I think the HE Sherman just has decent deflection damage on the HE rounds. It may not ever actually penetrate, but it doesn't have to due to deflection. In: COH2 Balance

The change was actually an improvement. Well, the kangaroo being a tales of valor unit for an opposing fronts faction, I've got little defense for either of those expansions. The American v wehrmacht matchup, the vcoh matchup, is kind of a different world. (And why tourneys were almost always vCoH.) In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Balance 2018 2vs213 Apr 2018, 14:22 PM I think the OKW flares get a bad rap because they are cheap, come early, last a long time and can be triggered through FoW without using any units. If OKW flares was an ability given to volks or something I doubt thered be complaints. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: panther should be slower (and re-evaluating medium speed)12 Apr 2018, 20:54 PM Snares are really what have always undermined medium tank design, as well as infantry AT weapons being freely available for stock units AND having deflection damage. In vCoH (not opposing fronts) you only had sticky bombs for American riflemen to snare. Only infantry AT weapons were doctrinal for American (rangers or paras) or panzerschrecks for Wehrmacht that didn't have snares. (Fausts didn't snare at a certain threshhold.) The infantry based AT is much more central to CoH2, and one of the major reasons infantry blobs and heavies have been such prominent players. In: COH2 Balance

Finally something historically accurate But I feel like there's a risk in going for such a popcap heavy solution since usually strats based around T34s (or SU76s) will rely on critical mass that is going to collapse on you at some point. If that happens at an unexpected time or place where you lack support or tellers, Panther will probably lose to the horde. Personally I think it's safer to have a critical mass of stugs of your own and at some point try to nullify the opponents T34 horde. Stug losses will most likely be a thing but at least they are pretty easy to replace unlike the panthers. I don't disagree. However the key here is vet. The panther is able to gain vet off that horde. The armor boost it used to get at vet2 shifted the scales to let panthers attempt to fight superior numbers of those su76s and t34/76s. But the merit of that whole design went out the window about 2014. Although mark target and access to t34/85s were sort of wrenches in the gear to begin with. (oh hay Guard Motor, looking at you.) But those were at least doctrinal to match the doctrinal tiger. In: COH2 Balance
