Thread: Halftrack Veterancy & Upgrades (M5 & 251) 24 Jan 2016, 02:16 AM So when they get their vet out of combat, then they'd get to start off with their upgrades with further powerful bonuses? I would consider this considerable improvements to halftracks rather than simply changes. Upgraded halftracks are quite powerful with their vet. Improving upon that while being able to acquire vet from safety first might be a bit frustrating. In: COH2 Gameplay

Thread: OKW Base Defence/Flak Truck in relation to Air units23 Jan 2016, 00:31 AM Schwerer doesn't have brace. Arti it's face off. Sturms are way to valuable to risk repairing under fire. Most artillery barrages do a pretty significant amount of damage to any of the OKW trucks, so following it up with, or along with, an armored push or ATG creep usually does the trick nicely. Plus the Arti usually clears away most of the defending units for that assault. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Do you prefer the "new" OKW or the "original" OKW Part II23 Jan 2016, 00:22 AM While it's nice to have full income, I could either get better fuel or munitions income by converting, which helped suit my needs as the game progressed. I kinda miss that. It has been pretty neutral to me, as I feel it is more different than it is better or worse. The problems with OKW units didn't really change, although schrek blobs seem even more of a default action than ever. In: COH2 Balance

I've had close VP games 4v4s where an ally had dropped and one person initiated the vote and it immediately ended the game. I do think that a player dropping messes with the Surrender vote (even more.) But I know 100% that it does not always operate on consensus. In: COH2 Bugs
Thread: Calliope commander every single game22 Jan 2016, 16:45 PM Well, I think up until Calliopes Axis players could rely on the fact that USF was pretty much screwed for indirect fire. Against Soviets I've long known that team weapons are just a bridge to the end game. Once kats come out team weapons are something to be recrewed, not kept alive with vet. Against USF, as either Axis faction I could/can always reliably fall back on out blobbing schreks or lmg42s to efficient effect. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: OKW Base Defence/Flak Truck in relation to Air units22 Jan 2016, 16:35 PM Base flak guns are a bit problematic shooting down planes. They're always there at game start with OKW, removed from all player control. Schwerer is fine. It's a player choice when to build it, skipping a tier or not, and it costs a bunch of fuel. It's nice that it is unable to set up in Victory Point sectors, but many maps have non VP territory that covers VPs, or the route to them, very easily. The AA capabilities of the Schwerer doesn't come at an extra cost, and can be considered a free bonus, but to conflate that function as the primary use of the truck would be misleading. Thread: Strategic Territory Points Mod20 Jan 2016, 01:42 AM Ever wonder how CoH2 would play with the same kinds of territory points from CoH1? Well now you can, sorta, with this little tuning pack, and accompanying maps made compatible for the mod. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=604491510 There were enough unused objects in the worldbuilder that I could easily make a tuning pack that made certain objects behave exactly as territory points. (I was glad that I didn't have to get too creative in making them.) Problem was, I couldn't utilize new territory points without creating entirely new maps. So I finally decided to extract a few of the official maps and modify them slightly and replace the territory points. Right now the resource points come in +4, +8 and +14 instead of the +5, +10 and +16 of CoH1. I did this mainly because CoH2 tends to use lower base numbers than its predecessor. I may revert this eventually. First off, I hope I didn't cause any foul by posting slightly modified official maps that worked with the mod. I just figured the CoH1 maps were the most appropriate ones to test out the mod.
