I am fairly sure that the x4 multiplier is across the board, but I was not exhaustive in looking it up.

It's worth noting that mgs deal a lot more damage when they aren't applying suppression. Accuracy and rof becomes the mitigating factor then. So the mg that gets itself pinned first I think gets a net dps boost. But that is entirely theory and untested.

@Vuther I'm pretty certain it replaces the modifier. But again, I haven't tested that.

Only caveat with passable territory points is that it precludes my own personal hope for units to someday be able to active use territory points. I'll take it though. I'll settle for a kludge over nothing any day.

I think he means that the Panther is only really worthwhile when there's an Allied heavy tank.

Because Allied factions really don't have a whole lot of heavily armored tanks, this role of the Panther is kinda marginalized.

It functionally does not counter medium tanks being so expensive and having high penetration but comparatively low armor.

It also isn't as effective against low-armor high-health tanks like the Churchill compared to StuGs. Again, the benefits of high penetration of the Panther is lost against this unit.

Comets and Fireflies are designed to counter Panthers more than Panthers are able to respond to their threat.

There aren't a whole lot of IS2s or Pershings being used, or even in people's loadout, to justify using Panthers consistently.

But I think it is extremely important to note that the Panther fits in against the Soviets. The Soviets have the SU-85 and the T34/76. It is in this microcosm of CoH2 that the Panther really does work.

USF and UKF completely piss on Ostheer basic design, but Soviet v Ostheer still has the components of a balanced game in there.

I think it is worth noting that the game mechanic of suppression does not seem to function as an area/map denial tool, and instead is seen as an infantry counter. Suppression from hmgs is not a damaging hard counter. It's a counter to maneuverability and positioning.

The maxim is largely at fault for this perspective since it suppresses single targeted units.

Also blobs that are suppressed by hmgs lose very little manpower from getting suppressed and pinned. Countering a blob with hmgs means that the blobber maintains hefty manpower reserves.
