You know that maybe in DBP forward hq got nerfed?

That is what I said in my original post:
"Lorch Assault and Lienne Forrest are current soviet Urban Defense instawins. Will be interesting to test these with the DBP."

My point is that in the 2v2 contest many maps were pulled because of buildings, yet 50% of the maps in the tourney are all buildings. You cant have it both ways. Either buildings are bad or they are not.

But I can see the need to test building maps with the DBP since garrison times have been changed considerably.

A few observations:

1. The 2v2 map contest is not using any of the urban or industrial maps that have buildings. The first tournament after the contest has three of six maps FULL of buildings. Lorch Assault and Lienne Forrest are current soviet Urban Defense instawins. Will be interesting to test these with the DBP.

2. Lorch Assault is one of the higher voted maps that needs to be removed because it is FULL of buildings and everyone camps mortars, yet it makes it into the 4v4 tournament.

3. We need a 4v4 map contest fast, since clearly only about four of the current maps are any good for tournament play. I am including Hill 400 which some may feel is too small and has cancerous cutoffs.

The best part of the COH2 community is summed up by this analogy:
You are some scrub playing football/soccer in the park and the next day you are playing with the best player to ever play the game. Since these players do not get tons of money it doesn't feel like they are amazing once in a lifetime people. Thanks Currahee for seeing these players as the stars they really are. And generating some great hype for this tourney!

Congratulations to the winners!

I had three maps in this contest: Elsenborn, Butgenbach Lake, and Reichswerke.

Elsenborn was probably the better map of my three. Rural maps are a little easier to make since they wont have numerous and large buildings etc. I don't like to pre-damage my maps. I like them to slowly take damage naturally during the game. So maps like Butgenbach and Reichswerke had little chance of being included due to too many full health buildings I also talked to some about removing my maps since it seemed like I was the only person who cared about this contest and I did not want to appear biased. But once Elsenborn was not picked I felt free that my maps had no chance, so I could continue my crusade of trying to give all these great maps some exposure for all the hard work the mappers put into them :lifts beer mug:.

Maps I thought would win were Poltawa, Normandy, and Bialystok Market. Poltawa had features of a good map and thought it pulled slightly ahead in the tough Rural category. Normandy looked beautiful and also had good play capability, so I figured it would garner a lot of community support. Bialystok Market was the one true urban map that had good play and was the clear winner for me. I thought Stalingrad Station may win due to community vote, because to me it was the best looking map overall. I felt Stadtshutt also did a great job of blending textures etc to create a great look.

None of my picks were based on gameplay (most important part) because we never got to see all of the maps get played. A few of the maps were played in the tournament, however, most games were one sided roflstomps (looking at you Noggano and Scotch) This contest had some growing pains that hopefully will be fixed up for the next contest. Thanks to Relic for taking on this adventure knowing full well the hate you will receive in doing so. And many thanks to the people behind the scenes who contributed to the successful completion of the contest.

Great stuffs! FL Studio is a powerful tool. I purchased it to use as a drum machine because the people that wrote that program are incredibly cool I did not mind paying $299US for it! I would recommend it to anyone trying out PC music.

Now as soon as this ecstasy wears off and I put my clothes back on I may have more to say LOL But seriously great songs all around. I would imagine a lot of twitch streamers would want to link this in their playlists!
