I mean no offense, but you're probably just used to always attack front armor from all the other stuff axis gets (schrecks, paks, even raketens, panthers, stugs, etc). A medium tank bouncing a shot is pretty normal, especially if it has good anti infantry like the p4. And of course it's not supposed to fight heavies, that's the panther and tiger's job, or even the stug. You don't really see cromwells fighting kts a lot right? I think you are just expecting too much from the p4.
Haha, I dont expect anything from RNG anymore. You pretty often see 76s penetrating the front armour of all kinds of heavies. We had a game where a Tiger bounced twice from the frontal armour of a Comet while a '76 killed the tiger with a first-shot frontal penetration. Its just dumb that a 150 fuel p4 bounces on a Jackson on close range. Often it is RNG for both sides, but that's why it is so frustrating to see 125/150 of your fuel down the drain compared to the 80 your '76 costs. |
I think it will be good, if p4 have smoke screen as standart option. P4 good vs stock soviet armor (almost everything will be penetrated from every distance), it's bad against t34-85 and heavies.
Well, I ve seen bouncing P4s from pretty much everything, T34s (76s) and even Jacksons. And I don't mean a bounce from time to time, I mean regularly. I think the penetration is a big problem of the P4. And I also think it is not supposed to fight enemy heavies. |
The T34-76 is pretty good tho, I would argue its the best tank when you look at price-effectiveness ratio. The P4 on the otherhand is very underwhelming, or at least inconsistent as hell... |
Would appreciate if they would remove/change the auto repair of emplacements from the Advanced Emplacements Commander. Zero micro (apart from brace once in a while), auto repair while braced (and sometimes faster than you can dmg it), and no risk of losing your engeneers. |
Who thought of a map with few choke points, safe fuel and only 2 vps? What is this? Its just obvious that these games would end in huge cheese parties... |
Yes, but again its map dependable (need houses nearby) and its risky. A falli squad costs 440 mp, the Katy 360. And you need to pick a fairly weak doctrine just to counter 1-2 units (if you count the sniper as well). |
I cannot confirm, he didnt kill his own command panther but mine. Very confusing title. |
You can't put mines everywhere, especially lategame (what with all the explosives flying around). Knowing this, just avoid roads and especially junctions and you should be fine. If you can back your tanks with infantry, all the better, but even if you can't, they should have less armor than you do, and their allies will probably be slow to respond, so you can just use all your tanks and dive in, kill katyushas, and be back out before anyone comes to the rescue. Also, you could just get a JT and snipe their katyushas when they try to fire from close range. That'll provide deterrence in the future too.
Well, but that's the point I am trying to make, the Katyusha is also pretty effective on long range, not in spite but BECAUSE of the scatter (if you dont try to snipe down a truck or smth). So the chances to get them with your JT are pretty slim. As for the other suggestion, usually the Katyushas are with the "pack" and not on the other side of the map. So it is very likely you will lose your tank(s). Plus, the idea to dive really depends on the map, try to dive in Trois Point for example. Large open maps like Vaux or Moscow might work, but on small, narrow maps it's nearly impossible... |
I mean you have a good point, but won't 1 diving tank solve all your problems, especially if you're OKW? You do need to remember that katyushas and pwerfers get 1 shotted, so if they spam a lot and only have a couple tanks, a panther should be able to kill multiple katyushas and still escape, especialy if it has blitz and armored skirts.
Ofc they are easy to kill with a dive, but if your opponents arent scrubs then they wont let that happen. Just mine the ways to your Katyusha(s) and you are mostly fine. With what do you want to chase the Katyusha, particularly as OKW player? A Luchs is a possiblity, but it's fragile and you need Mechanized. Everything else (let's say a P4) is not worth sacrificing in a suicide mission. The same argument could be made about why Allies dont simply dive after a Stuka with a cheap T34. Sounds easy, but it isnt in practice. |

Recently I've had a short command prompt open then close and minimize things such as coh randomly. Unsure if you're all talking about the same thing. Has something to do with latest windows update I believe.
Exactly the same I have. Seems like it is a bit different for most of us. However, I noticed this also happens outside of the game, so I guess it has to do with the windows update as some people mentioned before. I just noticed it first during CoH (when you would units because of tabbing out), and assumed it had to do with the game... |
