Comet deals less dmg against Infantry than Panther or P4 (both mg upgraded of course). And lose to Panther in tank combat.
+ Comet does not have any fire rate bonus on vet.
I really don't see why brit player must go for comet with extra 50 fuel for tech and 185 fuel for the tank that only better thing than cromwell is armor.
Andc range. And health. And pen. And abilities..
You are literally getting a cromwell that's wetter in ever metric except vet, which seems plenty reasonable to adjust. |
I'm more talking about the 20 mp reinforce cost.
In general, I find cons to be great if supported by elite infantry. They don't do a lot of damage but they're cheap to reinforce and get pretty tough with vet and have good utility. Team weapons work too, but the maxim kinda sucks so
I think volks are able to do too much tbh. Not sure how I'd change that, but I don't think that they should be able to have as much utility as they do and still be able to go toe to toe with more expensive allied infantry. Although cons do have an extra man and can sprint, so that's the one thing they have over volks.
The 20mp reinforce would be better if they were more than just bodies to die. Don't get me wrong, I don't want them to fight better, but when the enemy is paying the same as you for a squad that will in time absolutely shit can your squads there is something wrong and sprint doesn't make up for that. If cons were THE utility squad that would be fine, but again, Volks can do almost everything cons can AND fight. Sandbags used to be a very powerful and unique trait that made cons desirable and a trade off for lower combat power--and again we run into volks having that advantage with no sacrifice.
Cons arnt ~~BAD~~ just comparatively ineffecient. |
Even 60 wouldn't make it a monster. Worse canon than all other tank-hunters, way more expensive. Even it's AI power is so bad, that on 60 range it would lose versus a PaK. Maybe at Vet3 with its hard reload buff it would become OP.
But 50 range would make a decent all-rounder at arrival, and then the +5 buff at Vet 2 would make 55 range. So it gets a small advantage.
60 range would absolutely make it a monster. It would be the same as an allied TD, but with machine guns, armour, nearly double the health, blitz and aoe on the gun.
Don't get me wrong, I'm arguing the tiger is a bit squishy due to the potency of its counters but let's think about balance here while we make claims yea?
50-55 range isn't going to help the tiger quite against the thing that is pressuring it but turn the balance on its head against everything else that it isn't underperforming against.
Its just like buffing TDs because of the KT and panthers and ignoring that they now invalidate all armour values below 300 (which is most) |
There is a difference between different dps profiles and different machanics entirely. Different dps' can be chalked up to the skills of the unit using it (guards vs conscripts for example, in theory guards are better trained and therfore can make better use of the same weapon)
Now of guard nagants were dealing aoe damage we might find that a bit strange no? |
It is the Tiger I we are speaking about. It is no heavy tank anymore, or is the Comet a heavy too? It is forcing long-range tank-hunters ingame. Tiger I is way worse versus infantry than a Pershing, but Tiger has 2 more pop-cap and is a little bit more expensive.
so: a. make is as OP versus infantry (I don't want that, because also Pershing is OP) or b. give it more range, so it is a little bit easyer to Keep it alaive.
Tiger 1 is the middle ground of all the heavy tanks. It doesnnt have the armour of the KT or is-2 but it's more reliable than both of them. It doesn't have the AI of the Pershing but it can take more hits. It doesn't have the health pool of the churchill but it's quick as hell as far as heavy tanks go.
The tiger isn't the pincle of any one trait but a potent blend of all of them.
55 range would be nuts as a passive, but maybe replacing the vet 1 blitz (which has no place on a heavy tank anyways) with a spearhead kind of ability might be interesting. Give it a trade off on the bonus so it remains an ideal combined arms center piece that the ostheer champions so well |
IMO its pretty much fine how it is. Conscripts should have to unlock their utilities if only because they're already a dirt cheap squad with 6 men and sprint, and get really tough with vet. Sure, their utilities are what keeps them in the game, but I never found the sidetech to be too much of an issue with soviets for whatever reason.
Hardly "dirt cheap" at 240mp.
Tbh cons wouldn't seem so trash if volks couldn't do nearly everything they can, but better for nothing but an extra 10mp and thr desire to get tanks.
Comparing cons to volks you end up paying almost the same, for less. The you dump extra resources into sidegrades that preform worse.
Cons should be cheaper if they are to remain as an unbundled squad plain and simple. They are supposed to be a choice for early map control... One that is matched by both enemy factions base squads (both of whom out fight and out scale cons) their costs simply don't reflect their performance. Oorah doesn't offset STGs.
Perhaps swapping oorah into the ppsh doctrines and making hit the dirt cons vet 1 could make them a bit more attractive by making iy so they maybe at some point CAN hold ground by out lasting the enemy instead of bleeding mp by dying in mass while killing nothing? |
Panthers and tigers can be used to fight infantry, jaksons cannot. Panthers were buffed and are more useful at lower vets than pre-patch. There are 4 tiger docs. 3 tiger docs come with ways to deal with infantry and td spam. Ju-87 with tigers hard counters tanks. Assault support instantly pins infantry and has frag bombs for when the enemy units get to close to the edges of the map. Spearhead has panzer smoke, which is dam useful vs tds. Assault support and lightning war are some of the best doctrines ostheer has. Lightning war was used to counter heavy cav in a tourney. I think hans was in it, but i don't know where to find the game.
I'm aware of the capabilities of units and abilities in the game. The fact that the more expensive and less ranged tigers and panthers can fight infantry matters not that allied TDs are over performing because a single one is capable of ah utting them down. Tee panthfer is all considered in a better place than before its rebalance but my point still stands its got less armour than it hascin a dog's age and it was the primary reason for allied TDs being so strong. A tiger or KT sghould fee able to bounce shots because of the high investment into a single unit and it should reflect that in effort to take it down mainly becaudse they are limited ti a single one at a time. They NEED to have the ability to do something in the time they around to be even worth consideration as a unit. Panthers can be massed if the resources are there, " that combined with their previously high armour values warrented high chance to pen them. The tiger was an unfortunate casualty to that. |
Usf can dump muni into greatly upping their fuel-less anti infantry, which I think is in part why Jackson's are such an easy choice. If you are dominating the fuel game by all means rush a sherman (kinda like a later, over grown T70) it certainly won't hurt you, but if it's a bit closer going Jackson to back up you BARs is the way to go no question.
But this is about the tiger.
The tiger is a great tank, but it's counters are too effecient against it (a vetted su85 is almost guaranteed to pen it for example) so it's easy to zone.
We could perhaps experiment with additional health, or some other improved durability trait. But at its price and timing having a chance to bounce isn't an unreasonable desire. Now with panthers having less armour than they did in years I don't see why allied TDs can't afford to lose a bit of pen so the limited to 1 and intended to be impactful units can have a bit of breathing room instead of being shut down by a single unit. |
A unit that has to be massed to be effective isn't good balance *cough maxim* and a unit being like that out of fear of it being massed, yet forced to be is just plain stupid |
Well, tbh I think the molotov feels like a vet ability, not an unlocked one. Could put oorah in its place and reduce the AT nade cost slightly so that HAVING oorah and AT nades is an investment but one or the other is more manageable. I still think even with those changes a price reduction would be needed for cons but that's me |
