I compared it to the LEIG because its ranges are the same as the LEIG. The autofire range is 80, the same as every other mortar. The barrage range is 100. It fires every 14-15 seconds instead of every 10. The smaller AOE of the LEIG is more than compensated by its accuracy. I don't know the exact fire rate but it seems about the same as a regular mortar. I get one or two of them in most matches and always get more out of them than I do from a 120. If they're worth 270/7 then the most that a 120 would be worth is 270/7. I'm giving it the due it deserves is what I'm doing if you arnt getting worth out if it it's because you are using it wrong. You don't rely on the auto attack, it's a bonus. The barrage is where the 120mm shines because the barrage is fairly accurate and the AOE is wide. You turn the area it's targeting into an area the enemy will take damage it's a force multiplier not solo game winner. And if you think a no tech super mortar for 270mp with penal meta WON'T be broken as hell I'd like you to PM my your drug dealer because if like to experience not living in reality for a little bit.... The 120mm is worth FAR more than 30mp more than a regular mortar. Compare it to what it's to replace not something from a different army. In: COH2 Balance

The AOE is larger, but that is the only advantage. The rate is only 2/3 of a normal mortar so it normally gets fewer kills. It does force a decent amount of retreats. The cost and pop cap should be dropped to at most the same as a LEIG (270/7). I watched Crossfire play Pappy O'Daniel (sp?) yesterday. Crossfire's 2 LEIG's got 80+ kills, yet nobody ever complains about LEIGs. Elchino7 is probably right about the vet requirements also. I try 120's once in awhile. It's rare to get them to vet 3. The aoe isn't it's ONLY advantage, it also comes with more range, the barrage is great and it's available regardless of tech in a faction that heavily disuades using the tier that has access to the normal mortar. 270mp would be absolutely too cheap for the 120mm and comparing it to the leig is extremely poor given the 2 units are on opposite sides of the AoE spectrum. A 41% chance to deflect vs a 15% chance to deflect puts them on "equal terms"? At virtually all ranges the IS2 will deflect shots about 2.5 times more often. The Panther is great but the IS2 certainly dominates it in the head-to-head matchup. The "equal terms" engagement only arises when the IS2 is firing at infantry for the first 3 or 4 shots while the Panther plinks away at the IS2 for the first 15 to 20 seconds. or if by some statistical anomaly the panther is able to shoot at the is-2 without the is-2 being able to return fire somehow. It’s the exact 45mm At gun you get from Urban and community defense, so stats are the same (pen is better on the 45mm arty). Su76 uses the zis-3 gun and the isu-152 uses an ml20 the king tiger uses the pak 43 but each has different stats than their crew weapon. Things get dicey when you take the stats and slap them in a mobile armored meatbag. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Re-balance Allied TDs penetration values24 Oct 2019, 22:19 PM I'd much sooner see alternatives buffed for usf and see the Jackson toned down than have the Jackson the be all end all for usf AT. I think experimenting with swapping the m10 and Jackson BUT buffing the sherman AP PEN and making HVAP a toggle with muni drain on the m10 is worth looking into. Then returning the Jackson to its glass cannon state with it s current gun stats and put it in the m10s place as a doctrinal monster, assuming you have the micro. Then you have a cheap but still TD to support the usf design of mobility and that has HVAP to help against the big cats and the sherman AP adds volume of fire to work a bit better against mediums at the cost of a bit of AOE on it (it currently has 2 aoe vs the 2.5 of normal non shell swap tanks, I'd bump it down to 1.5 and buff pen by ~10-15 at all ranges and see how that looks) In: COH2 Balance

Not by increasing fuel cost by 5, but actually nerf it. Increase mp by 10? Su85 imo needs to lose some vet 0 pen. It gets a huge bonus at vet 2 so I think it isn't unreasonable to dial it down a bit as it's sort of the inverse of the old panther where you have a high base value increased by a high modifier. I also really don't like the idea of a self spotting TD. I know focus sight has drawbacks but it's a bit more over the top imo. Jackson I can't see a thing wrong with it. I mean that as in there is nothing bad about it. It needs an exploitable weakness. Firefly imo just needs MORE pen. Given the cost and mobility it should be one of the most reliable TDs not the least. And now that the brits have snares perhaps locking tulips behind vet and making the unit work well without would be a good route. In: COH2 Balance

Replace existing armor vet with something else. Yeah, the armor is worthless against TDs, so having it as an upgrade like this would give axis players a choice to pick it up or not depending on the enemy composition. If we were going to remove it from vet if make t4 more expensive and add the skirts to BP3 to return the notion of linear tech with battle phases adding stuff to the units. If it was added as a passive once BP3 was researched but the price of the armour in t3 reduced we could start so see an ostheer tech identity that's more in line with the newer WFA factions where teching isn't just unlocking new units but also an escalation of power.
