What is "Elite" infantry? How do you identify whether infantry squad Elite or not?
Are following infantry squads counted as Elite?
- Panzergrenadiers
- Osttruppen
- Penal Batalion (prebuff/postbuff)
- Panzerfusiliers
- Partizans (Schreck/PPSh)
And the main question: why people think that unit should perform better if they label it as "Elite"? |
BreakingBrad has given one of the best suggestions to fix howitzer-play to date:
- Reduce their range drastically
- Also reduce their cost drastically
(something like 50%)
That way, you will only, realistically, use howitzers offensively when you want to besiege something in particular (e.g,. Brit sim-city, OKW-truck blob, etc).
This will lead to more interesting situations where:
- The howitzer is actually vulnerable to direct assault, since it is closer to the front.
- Countering the howitzer with one-click abilities will no longer be profitable.
Currently, we get the "I'll set this LeFH all the way in the back and camp around it with my pak-wall"-flavour type of Howitzers. These can only, realistically, be countered by commander offmap abilities. We don't want to overbuff these.

I think 400 MP is a good spot (just like old 120mm mortar) - isn't spammable, much more realistic to build without shooting yourself in the leg. Could also increase popcap a bit to reduce spammability(like +2?). |

Well, why not to make it "Gustav"? You know, sometimes it says that "Schwerer Gustav is ready to fire", when ability becomes ready to use, so... who knows.
Anyway, I think V1-like offmap stirke would be way more useful for breaking defensive lines, than those pathetic and inaccurate 3 shots. Specially for that count of ammo, which you need to spend on it.
Do we have to expect another "Germany-gets-all-cool-stuff-while-SU-is-underpowered" thread when you will find yourself on recieving end of V1 offmap?

The hardest faction to play with the biggest micro input is Ostheer.
For me it is USF because of squishy armor and lots of abilities (vehicle crew, smoke barrage, HVAP, switching shell types, etc).
But IMO hardest to play =/= highest micro requirement. |

I'd like too, but we are talking about the balance mode, not our personal wishful mode miragefla's wishful mode.
In the current state of the balance mode, OKW has far than enough to deal with any type of situation if going unilaterally T1. HMG/Flak truck anti infantry + shreck/pfaust/Raken.
What you are asking for is a unit dealing AI/suppression + AT vs light tank for a super cheap price, all of this with shreck/pfaust/raken on the field at the same time.
