soo when can they fix the maxim deathloop?

As you may be aware the maxim is the worst MG ingame simply due to its cost inefficiency and lack of suppression... to compensate the maxim has a quick setup time and is the most survivable MG in terms of squad durability... but even this is hampered however by an age old bug.... the maxim deathloop... which has never been addressed since the beginning of the game and i think fixing this would be a good step in the right direction...


also since currently T2 builds arent as competitive as T1 builds a slight buff to suppression wouldnt hurt aswell... it should compensate for the lack of upgrades for the conscript in non doctrinal situations

well thats sucks... then at least buff the suppression and cost to make it more viable...

err cant they program the models to teleport though and change the animations to prevent the guy from doing the pickup animation? or at least make the guy on the maxim unkillable until everyone else is dead?

Then the maxim would be op since in combat it would never have its main gunner killed.

Also the 50 cal and Raken have the death loop problem as well. Its pretty annoying when it does happen.

the 50 cal is far superior to the maxim and the rak is a solid AT gun... the maxim is the worst mg ingame it deserves something

Worst MG in game is currently vickers which is basically 4 man maxim squad with wider firing arc. As weak as maxim is, at very least squad itself is durable enough to win engagements with enemy squads

Plus non-doc units wont be touched this patch (outside of brit snares)

50 cal. is more bugged, that guy sometimes doesn't want to move with 50 cal. already in his arms. Or if you already unsetup 50 cal and the guy die, next crew man go on the floor on fire position than he go up with 50 cal. and run away.

the maxim does less damage than the vickers has less arc has less suppression at higher veterancies has more target size for the crew and most importantly...no deathloop... in exchange for 2 extra men and slightly faster setup time... id take the vickers over the maxim please

uhhh yeah the 50 gets the bug too but at least its superior to the maxim considerably

As said before, not only maxim have such kind of problem - that deathloop happens on every MG in-game. If you want mobile supression platform as Soviets - go for Meatgrinder upgrade and keep it away from grens.
Also, this is not a problem - this is a feature.
Also, maxim is rather cheap and easy to spam(rip maxim spam meta 2015), its setup-teardown time is small. It vet1 ability is useless at most time, but can help alot, if you are against giant blob of fgren/pzfusil/ other cheat and mass okw units - it does not only suppres quicker, but allows to do massive damage.

To counter ANY MG in game, you should flank it. To prevent flanking, you should position it in choke points/buildings/etc.
If your Maxim forced to retreat, then you doing something wrond(don't forget about conscripts ability to reinforce squads)

It is kind of a "feature". There are two major styles of team weapons in game. The teleporting ones - like most mortars and mgs and the non-teleporting ones like maxim, 120mm mortar, .50 cal and all AT guns. Apart from that, most AT guns don't have the retreat button. Obviously only the non-teleporting ones feature death-loop but as half of the weapons in game fail to teleport, it is not really that much of a problem, or a bug.

1. the maxim has such bad suppression that a triple LMG gren blob or a single volksgrenadier and a flame nade can solo charge it and win... is it intentional aswell for a triple lmg gren blob to solo an mg from the front without cover?

if that were the case then id love the mg34 and mg42 to be nerfed to the point where i can solo charge it with 3 barfles >.>

2. this "feature" makes what is objectively the worst MG ingame even worse

Sustained fire is a cool ability that makes the gun somewhat usable but it shouldn't be a vet ability given is God awful performance without it. It's not like it's fucking double damage and +500% suppression and pen flame rounds that would be broken without requiring vet.

+1 here. Would prefer sust.fire as basic ability and Sprint(as dushka) or something new for vet1.

giving it decent suppression could work aswell... one good enough to not let triple lmg grens solo it upfront or volks to run up to it and throw flamenades would be nice...

Feature or not, the maxim needs something. Nerf after nerf after nerf and now it sucks big time. Volks with the incendiary grenade and Grens with the rifle grenade are raping them. Especially the incendiary grenade "activates" the freaking death loop.
Decrease its build time (like before the 10th nerf) or give it sprint back or give it a useful Vet 1 ability.
Just do something.


The last balance patches meant to make more units and commanders useful but instead of just only doing that, they managed to make useful units and commanders NOT so useful. Example, they buffed the Penals but made maxims sh.. or the Shoks (instead of buffing them they nerfed them more :loco:, so all of the commanders with Shoks are not seeing use anymore).

I like the fact that the community does update the balance but there is no point of making more units useful when at the same time you also make other units useless.
It's like taking one step forward and then again one step back, so nothing happens. Only the used units change.

thats odd bcz when playing the soviets id rather steal the rak over the pak 40... 10 range and no green cover for superstealth ability to garrison buildings and retreat? hell yeah... 2 of these plus a volks can shreck a T-34 with ease in an ambush

Lets clear some things up on why the maxim is the way it is. The deathloop which is not fixable is cushioned by the large 6 man team, giving it the best chance to recover from death loop since it cannot be fixed. The suppression is rather mediocre to prevent maxim spam of durable 6 man machine guns. If you raise the suppression or alternativly lower the price, you are pushing maxims farther towards the infamous maxim spam meta. The models per team is not lowered due to the existance of the deathloop.

If you have an alternative way to make the maxim respected in its own right, without creating an awful meta of machine gun spam, we're all ears.
