Calliope sucks

I gave the doctrine a try after to test new strats with non-meta commanders and holy shit this unit sucks. Basically I'm paying 140F for a unit that is slow as molasses, extremely mediocre damage and takes so long to finish firing it's lucky to even kill anything. Being tanky is a not good reason for this unit to be extremely crap at its only job. Yes it used to be OP but completely making units worthless is official balance team job not a community balance team.

1v1 this unit is absolute trash and the Priest is far better in doing its job, not to mention Infantry Co has more useful abilities while also having Rifle Defenses and LMGs. This is why people should balance around 1v1 not fucking team games ("best spot" Panther lmao my ass)

Are you firing at minimum range? Not doing that is the usual cause of rocket artillery sucking.

Bringing it to Vet1 is an achievement on itself. I played with it on 5-6 games and probably got it once at the really end of the match.

Eh, it's more like it's balanced now and now that it's not OP the rest of the lackluster doctrine shows. LMG is the only other really good thing after the nerfed the M5 Meatgrinder and if you want LMG then Infantry is much better. Calliope itself it still good for area denial or players with heavy support weapon concentrations but it's useless for trying to nuke single targets like it used to be able to. (Which in all honesty was cheesey and annoying to play against)

I made a troll thread about the entire doctrine a few months ago. It´s not just the Calliope that sucks, the P47 AI strafe is ridiculously bad too. This doctrine really needs some love.

145 fuel doctrinal rocket arty that is worse than Katy, Panzerwerfer and Stuka despite costing way way more fuel. Just a sad sad unit.

Actually Calliope is just fine. It might not have the same rate of fire as the Calliope in CoH1, but it's ok for laying down some waste prior to an attack.

Its pretty simple tbh. It has high cost, which it then gets large durability from that. If that was lowered we could easily make it stronger, but I'm sure someone would complain that "This sherman dies to 1 shell".

Nobody want it back to its old OP status, just that now it is simply too bad. IMO they should tie it to T3 and remove the CP requirement, that would be a good push.

Ridiculously OP doesn't mean nerf it into overpriced Priest. A middle ground would suffice. Just reduce the cost if don't want to buff the stats as 140F is asking for too much. 110F would suffice as rocket arty that doesn't die in 1 shot.

that's reasonable and acceptable but i'm totally oppose changing the stats of this unit

I agree with this change. The caliope is not bad at point blank range.

I think reducing the fuel a bit would be acceptable seeing as how it's basically a durable and more mobile land mattress now. I agree with Stark that buffing the rocket stats would be a bad bad idea.

Reduce fuel cost and give it back some of it's rocket so it's 40.
Then it will be good, just as slow firing for it's durablity, but not cost the same fuel as the Jackson.

This unit used to be OP ASF. You can one-shot any squad at any distant. At the moment it only does manpower damage, firing rockets it is way too slow, with its high cost it is not worth getting it. I understand it is hard to kill, but the population cap is insane. No dps, no burst damage.

They nerf doctinal not cheap caliope 10cp(?) but stuka in your first bulding lol still wipes at max range with pin point accuracy but someone will say thats design problem lol
Waiting for coments that usf should not have heavy tank or rocket arty
