Gewehr 43 sound effect, change please

Please change the sound of the Gewehr 43 rifle. This will allow to know that you're being shot by a sniper and not masked behind Gewehr 43 shots.

Same for the British AT tommies lol, whenever they volley I shit myself across the map thinking they have 3 snipers.

G43 have one of the most distinctive sounds in game...

If you can't tell the sniper, watch for the "unit sniped" popup.

That is skin and sound pack for CoH 1.

If you have CoH 1 and you are not lazy - install it and listen to sounds of shots, specially artillery.

That's how CoH 2 should sound like. Not those "plastic gun shots", which we have to hear now...

The same gun with different stats and specialisation should have the same sound. Just make notifications like in vCoH (big red/blue squares left on the screen) with special notofication about sniped units.

That would be nice since people can sometimes be caught up in the moment when the fighting is intense.

I wouldn't say they did a lazy job on the G43's firing sound.


Listen closely to the G43's firing sound around 9:10-9:15 range.


Then listen closely to the firing sound of the actual weapon.

Relic did a nice job in the sound department of the game. Especially with the G43s.

Then why does the Mosin-Nagant Sniper sound different from every other?

It's gameplay mechanics, the Sniper sounds different from normal units.

Well, G43 sounds good, but others... try that sound pack on CoH 1 :D Listen and understand, that even G43 here sounds like Miley Cyrus. Would be nice to copy those sounds from mod for CoH 1 to CoH 2 somehow.

If you don't have CoH1 and/ or are smart, you can just search for any of the hundreds of CoH1 vids on YouTube. ;)

As for the sound, I recall in the Close Combat games, some weapon sounds were differentiated by longer echo trains, perhaps one way to do this is to simply add a more distinctive effect on a specific weapon sound so that, despite hearing like same weapons, one can (easily) tell that one is a regular G43, and one is a sniper.

You mean like it is right now, when if you even press space, then your camera will be entered on the sniper?

No, i am talking about small text message above minimap, which called notification. From my own experience, i always don't see this text messages, because it is too inconspicuous (that's why i find soviet radio interception underpowered, compared with british analog from vCoH, where you have a big square left on the screen with icon of unit called by you/enemy).

The alerts in COH1 were clearly better. The alerts in COH2 just don't provide the same amount of information and look lazier.

I agree the Gewehr 43 in CoH2 sounds like plastic toys.

Do take into account that the real footage of the gun firing is at close range where as the gun sound has a noticeable distance away from the 'floating camera in the sky.'

Could just take the SVT sound and slightly alter it. In RO2 The guns sound roughly the same.
