Dude , Stalingrad was not even the strategic objective when case blue started let alone vital for victory.

How could it not be vital? it was an huge industrial city, it had stalins name so it would have been a huge propaganda win, it was a THE city to capture have if they wanted to create a defensive line at volga river which would have let germany get oil independent while denying soviet their own oil. Also Huge soviet supply lines came through volga.

+1 Like a thousand times.

The fighting spirit of the German army was incredible along with its technological advancement in almost every area compared to the rest of the world. The most amazing part this was this was a country that was totally broken and poor just little over a decade earlier.

The fighting spirit of the NSDAP you mean...?

Guys the Germans lost WW2 in 1940 when they failed to knock Britain out of the war. Not that they could have by force (LOL SEELOWE), but when the Brits refused to do a negotiated peace then and there it was GG. The looming threat of a British Empire backed up by US industry and the Soviets gathering strength over time forced their hand - Barbarossa was the next step. But the same lack of resources which made them turn east in an effort to secure them also doomed their war to failure. In 1941 the Axis outnumbered the Soviets. The Red Army was in Disarray. The Brits were temporarily out of action while rebuilding. Their campaign was spectacularly successful, whole soviet armies were destroyed. But it wasn't enough. Even under these ideal conditions they couldn't pull it off. It just wasn't doable, even if they didn't know it at the time.

I've heard it argued that if Hitler hadn't been indecisive during the initial phase of the push into Russia, the Red Army may have been smashed for good. What does this have to do with the ISU?

Something to do with how good or bad Russian armour was in WW2 and whether the ISU could hit German armour with accuracy and essentially destroy the tank with 1 HE round and if that should be reflected in the game.

Alright back to the isu-152 its to cost effective for what is doing right now and need a price increase. But their are only a few maps where this unit really shines. and if the isu-152 shines on that map then so does the elefant. basically jeager armor is the 'i win button' vs the isu-152 doctrines.

So do not select your doctrine if you see 1: the soviets having this doctrine 2: this map is large and open 3: you are sure he picked the doctrine as most soviet player do not use the isu-152 if you have the panzer jeager commander.

Stalingrad was an incredibly important city for the soviets.
If germans took stalingrad, the oil reserves in Caucasus would be lost.
No oil= no fuel = no tanks = LOSE.

Order 227 simply wasn't just because LOL lets kill traitors.

Soviets simply could not lose stalingrad.

If they lost it, it would mean goodbye for the Soviet Union . Stalin understood that. Hence order 227.

You are missing the point. Germans have to go Elefant to not lose. All I saw in that video were horribly microed T-34/85s rushing over the river and getting stuck. And god forbid that the Elefant beats the ISU! The ISU only has superb anti infantry capabilities while also being good versus armor, while the Elefant only excels at anti-tank, guess who should win.

The problem is if the Germans don´t go for Elefant, they usually have lost. And that´s super boring. There are people who play for fun, not to win. And going Elefant every game isn´t fun.

The main objective of operation Case Blue was Caucasus and all of its oil.
Stalingrad was second objective.

You mean the Volga river. When the Germans where in the city Stalingrad had very little economic worth to the Germans or soviets. While Stalingrad was a very good position to cut the volga of it could be done at any point of the river.

Also while the 6th army was in Stalingrad the germans assaulted the Caucasus. Operation Uranus was their to destroy the 6th army that guarded the flank of the Caucasus offensive but the city itself was worthless.
