My comparison as to why i think the specific offmap is the problem: Indeed, but the effectiveness (cost ratio) and execution is not equal with the IL2 bombing strike or OW AT arty. Sander's comment regarding the strafe What we could try is giving it lower penetration (around 90) and adding deflection damage of something like 50%. That way it will still be lethal to snared/rammed mediums and Panthers (guaranteed rear armor pens and even with deflection damage when hitting the front armor the rockets should do enough damage to kill a 50-75% hp medium tank) while reducing the effectiveness against heavies by around 33-50% as most have around 150 rear armor. Essentially the same was done for AT Overwatch. In: COH2 Balance |

Regarding "phasing" shots, it's probably a scatter shot (not an accuracy shot) connecting with the rear part of the hitbox. As the game doesn't count for angling, this makes performance in real games weird at times. I don't think it should be relevant for what OP does. You could set up a 50/50 probability from a 90°. As for whether to check how things really work i think modding a simple 2 things in would work as testing material. An AT gun with 100% acc with no scatter and 1 pen. An ELE or any other big model tank with armor higher than 100 and 1 rear armor. Values of pen lower than 3% are ignored. Only rear armor hits would do dmg. And with 100% acc you would always be hitting. Now you can determine if there is any reliability depending the angle of attack. In: COH2 Gameplay |

Both options are consistent (no RNG), it's not reliable. I'll say it again, the only reason this is brought now is because IL2 rocket strafe is too cheap and too reliable. The problem in how you bring "counter play" into discussion is by the delimitation you put up. Snare can't be dodge up. Single strafe can't be destroyed realistically before they delivered their payload. A single squad of infantry can't deal with a sniper kitting constantly back, etc. The perspective and tools when talking of counter play between a MOBA and an RTS is different. Counterplay in an RTS doesn't start when the action takes place in the screen. PD: ram COULD be reworked but it's not a necessity (outside of removing the minus 5% mega crit). The issue is just the new Commander strafe ability in combination with it. In: COH2 Balance |

The tree blocking the forest. T34 Ram + IL2 bombing is a noble act compared to T34 Ram and IL2 rocket strafe. This. I suggested replacing the AT strafe for the AI strafe coming from the Guards. Now in order to do the same combo, you would need a Guard squad nearby to do the same. All other combos from Soviets takes longer to arrive and are more expensive (IL2 bombing strike) and are not as guided as the IL2 strafe. In: COH2 Balance |
