I love this tanks, its a breath of fresh air from su85 spam/isu152 spam. so im interested in buying the dlc for it. but how do I actually use this?
I have had these tanks used against me, but they dont seem to be very effective, I can hold them at bay with panzergrens and pschrecks + a p4, while the kv1 misses every shot on my panzergrens.
so it seems that for a heavy tank, they are merely a manpower sink or my perception of using them is wrong.
therefore, how do you actually use them? |
coh2 has a much greater reliance on mortars and light indirect weapons compared to coh1 and AT guns are paying for it.
any sane player will deploy AT guns well behind his lines expecting an armoured charge, but because AT guns are programmed to fire at anything, they always give away their positions and get bombed to hell by mortars and what not. extremely limiting their effectiveness as the element of surprise is their strongest weapon.
in general, AT guns needs a toggle to only target tanks, not infantry. this way, they do not fire shots at infantry charges and keep the enemy guessing. in turn, barrage is balanced because you give away your AT gun position and will be inviting alot of fire from mortars later on. |
but they should be proud of their unity and strength of their people, to be able to withstand attacks from a modern elite fighting force during that time and come up with powerful and effective weapons/tanks that could possibly rival the german's.
please dont make the sacrifices of the russian people during ww2 meaningless.
leave out the politics and show that the fighting was much more brutal and desperate for both sides instead.
as far as i know, soldiers from both sides feared each other because they knew that once captured, they will not be let off easy. one has the concentration camps, the other the gulags and both sides hate each other for what they have done to each other. this was a much more motivational factor to fight harder than order 227. |
finally, someone who can word it better. this has been irking me since release. |
i feel that for what they do, they are too expensive, esp so for the german one, since soviet AT gun can double up as a light artillery piece. back in vcoh, AT guns were cheap(almost half the cost of medium tanks) and very effective against anything up to medium armour and remain good support against heavy tanks.
but in coh2, they have varied effectiveness against tanks, occasionally missing and/or deflecting, takes a little long to get reload and most importantly, are actually more expensive mp wise vs medium tanks. To add to the pain, they are clunky to micro, vulnerable to infantry, flanking units and indirect fire.
all these shortcomings makes it really difficult to build and maintain a solid AT gun position when 2 of these cost 720mp, while medium tanks are cheaper mp wise, have lesser vulnerabilities and able to deal with infantry/weapon teams as well as tanks. |
undostrescuatro,
i have nothing to add, just saying i like your dp actually, where issit from? |
maybe a global price reduction of AT guns to 300 and a tweak to german mines, to lay a standard 25munition mine, 60munition teller mine or the S mines. |
what is up with all these elite bullshit nowadays.
dunno about the change, this means tanks are delegated into mostly anti vehicle roles, rather than fire support. since infantry can rush up to tanks, force it to pull away and watch them miss the next 2-5 shots or so.
but on the other hand, they become mobile firebases, to be screened by infantry so that enemy infantry wont get too close and force them to move and lose their effectiveness. might be a good change after all, makes tanks more combined arms-ish. |
probably he was overwhelmed by his memories in that tank and the memories of the people who were in it, some probably didnt make it through the fighting.
regardless, i think even without it being his own tank, the sight of any t34 will probably trigger off emotions among tank crews who operated it and made it to this date.
i would imagine it to be a very deep sense of pride and sadness, for all the german soldiers and tanks who faced it and perished, as well as his own crew members/friends and other tankers who werent quite as lucky and faced a gruesome/fiery death inside. |
penals are great fighters but bad on the front lines. they have good dps for a rifle squad and flamers, so they are great for ninja capping, since nothing except infantry numbers or vehicles can really stop them without taking heavy casualties.
they are more like a finesse unit, superb when played and microed right, worthless when the enemy makes a real effort to stop them.
so i really love it when people send grens against my penals and watch as a satchel wipes a squad or my penals doing huge amounts of damage before being forced off, coming back vetted and alot more dangerous.
conscripts are better off on the frontlines where they act as meatshields and flankers with molotovs and cheap to replace. |
