Thread: OKW infantry get killed easily while even retreating! 16 Feb 2018, 22:45 PM Probably much has to do with your latter point, OP. OKW units aren't the same as Ostheer units in their use and timing. Getting used to how and when you should retreat a volks as opposed to grens (or cons or whatever) can take a bit of getting used to. For instance a 2 man volks squad is easier to kill than a 2 man gren squad. Adjusting your timing to retreat is necessary and improves with practice. In: COH2 Balance

Most things British in either coh kind of fly in the face of balance and design. I mean, CoH1 is indeed a game where there's Opposing Fronts. And, uh, a stuart in coh2 can solo a KT in that same fashion. I wonder if the new m8 can now that I think about it... In: COH2 Balance
Thread: OKW troops compared to SU/UKF/USF 16 Feb 2018, 21:51 PM Infantry AT doesn't deal deflection damage in coh1. Tigers and such can bounce frontal bazooka shots without being whittled down. It's absolutely crazy how much of an effect 0 deflection damage has on making tanks feel like, well, tanks. Also in coh1, handheld infantry was much less accessible for allies. Unless you got paras or rangers, it was sticky bombs and stolen schrecks. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Soviet sniper16 Feb 2018, 18:36 PM Snipers could move while cloaked without any cover in coh1. This made sniper play an entirely different game, as spotting and scouting with snipers was a huge component of competitive play. Positioning a sniper for a counter snipe was a challenging risk-reward type task. None of the snipers in coh2 are anywhere close to what vcoh snipers were like. They inherited one element of their predecessors: multiples can reach critical mass. There aren't bikes or jeeps, and it's often unfeasible for snipers to set up a countersnipe due to how cloaking works. I don't think any recon runs in coh2 can reveal cloaked units either. Usually it's just snipe and retreat because snipers can typically outrun sniper aim time and get out of range. In: COH2 Balance

The manpower investment will likely hold you back from holding other territory. While caches may get you more income, they don't slow down your opponents. Slowing your opponents resource income is one of your main objectives. If there I'd a territory point you know isn't going to be attacked, (map dependent ) then that is a good candidate for a cache. Losing a cache is like losing a squad: it is a major loss. You don't want them in harms way. As far as fuel or muni goes? That depends on what you and your team need. If you're playing randoms, fuels probably better. Go for munis if you and your team have got a plan for the munis. (Recon/flare and skill plane/bombing runs, etc.) In: Strategy Desk

The only penalty is a reinforcement time increase when the forward retreat point is active. There is no manpower increase. Ideally, don't ever get the FRP upgrade and just soft retreat squads to maintain a forward presence. Or... at least toggle off FRP before reinforcing your squads. Place your med base a bit forward - not far enough forward to be an artillery magnet. But enough to minimize the replenishment time of your troops when soft retreating in order to improve your field presence. True, the penalty is only applied when using it actively as a forward retreat point. So yeah, if he has been investing in it as an FRP it may be useful to be aware of that nuance to disabling it and re-enabling it do it doesn't nullify it's purpose, especially if it's the time spent replenishing his army.
