Oh boy
-Too much downtime; wait past time for person to show up and/or wait up to an hour to begin your next round after that (rinse and repeat 4-5 times).
-No 2v2 tournaments
-Payouts are bad. You must play for 1000+ hours just to be at a level where you could possibly win and make $200-1000 which is an absolutely terrible hourly rate. CoH1 tourneys were interesting for the sense of accomplishment, but...
-Skill ceiling is much lower than coh1, partly because the strategic depth is really shallow and most choices are locked behind a pay wall. Playing for the pride is not worthwhile imo.
-Too much RNG, far more prevalent than coh1.
-Game performs like ass on my $900 gaming rig.
-Lack of competition. There aren't any remarkably good or innovative players that can even compare to Sepha, Golradaer, Nystrom, 12azor, etc...instead the top players are for the most part, the people that have played the most games.
TL;DR better things to do than spend an entire weekend at the computer when the only motivation to participate is a low chance at winning enough money to fill my gas tank once or twice

Thread: 120hz monitors7 Feb 2014, 06:26 AM
I got a $190 Samsung 1080p @ 60hz recently and there is one game so far (Borderlands 2) that screen tears like a motherfucker even when I have FPS set to cap at 60 AND vsync is enabled....I know that makes zero sense but trust me its pretty obvious and unpleasant. How prevalent are 120hz monitors, is everyone with a nice rig using them? Or will using adaptive vsync on nvidia cards fix the problem without spending a ridiculous amount of money on a better monitor? |
Thread: Is it worth upgrading 670 into 780?7 Feb 2014, 06:19 AM
unless you plan on using multiple screens,I would personally go with the GTX 770, half the price. About two weeks ago there were some really good prices on aftermarket 770s ($300) but it went back up to $400 now. I haven't bought my 780 yet but imo the performance increase is definitely worth the extra $80 because you can run every single game @ 1080p everything on ultra with excellent frames even while streaming or recording 1080p. A 770 is a great card but in the near future (and even now with some games) you will need to turn some stuff down or off for optimal performance. Even though most games still look great without all the bells and whistles, I'm looking forward to the day when I just crank everything all the way up and forget about it. |
Thread: Is it worth upgrading 670 into 780?6 Feb 2014, 20:00 PM
The performance increase is worth it but don't do it just for Tomb Raider and CoH2. If you want to get BF4, Arma 3, DayZ, Watchdogs, or that Tom Clancys MMORPG thats coming later this year then you will probably be happy. |
Thread: Strategy in Company of Heroes 26 Feb 2014, 00:23 AM
@Basilone You sir are incorrect. It advertised "21 new camos" which is only 7-8 camos, having the same camo and heavier tank is NOT a different camo. Also, it said we would get however many "new commanders" which in fact turned out to be nothing new at all but stuff we already owned and then shuffled around differently. It would be like if you bought a BF4 map pack but it was maps included in the core game but with the objectives placed in different locations. Now the store actually shows you exactly what content it comes with, but that was not always the case. On top of that the game constantly fluctuates between 20 and 70 fps (while also stuttering really bad) on a GPU that is superior to what is recommended, playing at only 1280x720 and low-medium settings. So no, I did not get what I paid for. In: Lobby |
Thread: Strategy in Company of Heroes 25 Feb 2014, 20:05 PM
I am sorry, I don't mean to be rude but. This is the exact sort of attitude that hasn't, and never will help this community grow. I paid $100 for this game because I was naive enough to think the game would not only be great but I would also get my moneys worth in content (which in reality the $100 DCE is probably the worst value of any product on steam, but that's another topic). Like I said in some other thread last night, the advertised "recommended" video card is inferior to mine and I can't even get a consistent performance on medium settings @ 1280x720. So with all the misleading information and/or lies (call it what you want) I have zero interest in helping Relic grow their community when the only thing they want to offer is paid DLC and the occasional balance patch for a game that doesn't even run correctly in the first place. Thread: Let's talk about optimization 5 Feb 2014, 08:50 AM
Engine optimization is a slow and complicated task which is normally a continuous process during development. Somewhat true. Its not a 2 day fix thats for sure, but Arma 3 ran extremely poorly in Alpha and by late Beta it was running pretty good, at least on the quality cards it was intended to. BF4 also had sub par performance in beta but now its doing fine. So if we are still in mid beta that would be a valid excuse, but not 6-7 months post full release. The optimization only improved slightly from alpha to beta and hasn't improved since as far as I could tell. edit: and that is all irrelevant anyways, if the box/website/vendor says it runs well on ≥ HD5850 then it should run well on ≥ HD5850. "In 1-3 years we hope it runs well on the card we advertised it to run well on" is unacceptable, sorry. That info is supposed to definitive, not tentative. In: Lobby |
Thread: Let's talk about optimization 5 Feb 2014, 08:30 AM
Paid $100, got fuck all except maybe a a few extra camos. Now they can't even task someone to make the game run properly, but have plenty of people working on inevitable future paid DLC packs. Steam store clearly says 5850 is recommended which is total bullshit because this game just owns my 6850 on low settings and only 1280x720. Yet another time where public marketing information was blatantly misleading. If something that actually cost a significant amount of money was misrepresented this heavily we would have a case for a lawsuit but I'm not going to bother for $100 obviously. Fool me once shame on you, fool my twice shame on me. If Relic has to sell more DLC just to provide the bare minimum essential product support which is a game that runs smoothly on a $800+ gaming computer, then they are surely doomed. In: Lobby |
Thread: Let's talk about optimization 5 Feb 2014, 04:38 AM
I can stream in 1080p these games and get these results BF4 medium-high'ish 40-60fps depending on map War Thunder high 50-80fps DayZ Standalone high 40fps Arma 2 high-ultra 30-60fps depending on map Red Orchestra 2 ultra 60fps Chivalry ultra 60fps Wargame ALB high 30fps (but very consistent) Insurgency ultra 60-100fps CoH2 on low-medium settings @ 720p = very inconsistent and stuttery 20-60fps...shameful In: Lobby |
Thread: video of how broken shocks are.4 Feb 2014, 01:05 AM
They need a significant decrease to survivability and a pretty hefty buff to their damage output, the end. They should be like Rangers without the Bazookas, now they are like a vet 3 blob of pioneers (without flamers) that can throw grenades. In: COH2 Gameplay |
