I don't think Bud has a problem with true balance, such as this tank underperforming, or that infantry squad being a bit too strong. I think he was referring to the abundance of cheesy units and abilities, such as the strafing runs, T34 ram, M3s, 6 man weapon crews, super tanks, Tiger Ace, Soviet Windustry, etc. When the game is full of so much cheesy stuff that leaves you feeling like you've been cheated almost every time you lose, its a design issue. Budwise you should take part in the balance beta where Peter and Braden are working directly with the players who volunteered. Of all the reasons I'm unhappy with CoH2, faction imbalance is probably the least of them. It is expected that game will have imbalances this early in its life span, most of the complaining is about design decisions. -Whiteflash made a good topic about the flawed doctrine system which got a unanimous thumbs up from everyone that read it, and it was ignored. -Nothing has even been mentioned about working global upgrades in to the game so that every game isn't simply a vehicle rush. -Nothing has been mentioned afaik about slowing down the tech speed, and even if is in the works and I'm unaware, it took way too damn long. Since Alpha people have been saying that the early game transitions to late game way too fast, with the mid game being almost non existent. It shouldn't take over a year to fix that, but weeks. -AT nades and fausts still have infinite range and cannot be interrupted once they begin. -Game can be painfully slow paced with super tanks and assault guns that shoot from halfway across the map and have almost zero manueverability. Axis light vehicles are very clunky handling and slow, even if your micro is sub par you are still bottlenecked by the vehicles piss poor agility, and not by your own lack of ability. -No in-game leaderboard -After all the flak about the p2w commanders nothing has been announced about doing away with it and its been 4 or 5 months now. Simply going a month or two without releasing new ones isn't a satisfactory response. -Optimization is still terrible and its not even on the short term to-do list. In: Lobby |

A) We stopped using M3 after the first 5 games or so because because it was so broken and we wanted a strat that would be viable after it got hit with the inevitable nerf hammer B) We very rarely used PPSH and went double Guard Motor in the vast majority of the games. C) SU85s were a great P4 killer but at that point in time Panthers bounced almost everything that wasn't a rear armor hit D) Yes, they were really hard at that time unless you were spamming HTD in 1v1. Ostheer rolled team games back in June and early July. E) T70 was rarely used at that time, it didn't become popular until the scatter reduction which happened in late July or early August F) T34/76s died really fast because that was when they got two-shotted by Paks and Stugs were actually really strong G) You are right, the list does go on and on with cheesy tactics units and abilities which is why the game isn't that compelling to a large number of former competitive players. You can't say "but you were probably abusing this and that" and then turn around and praise the so-called CoH2 pros that did the same thing or worse, ridiculous double standard. In: Fan Clubs |

Why does it offend you so much that "average" vCoH players are succeeding in CoH2? That in no way means that CoH2 takes more skill or that vCoH has a high skill ceiling blah blah whatever. It just means that the games are different (newsflash! they are!) and that a different skill set is required. Same thing happened with SC2. Some of the BW pros were bad at SC2, some weren't. That's just life. Trying to say that CoH2 takes no skill because people that were good at a different game aren't good at it is a huge failure of logic. Oh, I don't see you tearing up the tournies in CoH2, or the ladder, or anything for that matter. What difference is there in skill set? Its basically the same thing, control map, vet up units, tech, attack, control VPs. The only difference is that the strategic depth is pretty shallow in comparison, RNG is more prominent, flanking is less rewarding, and you have to pay money to get most of the doctrines that the diehard coh2 fans are using. Other people have given the game a chance, didn't like it and moved on. That's fine. Not everyone is going to enjoy the game, not everyone enjoys any game or anything but at least they have enough maturity to have moved on with their lives. And at least Inverse has the ability to coherently express his opinions on what he doesn't like. Sure people outside of Reborn don't like the game, but it is mainly the Reborn people I see on a daily basis talking about how bad CoH2 is/how it takes no skill etc etc and yet none of them are good (or simply don't play) at CoH2 =/ but still pretend to know something. A) I have given the game a chance, I've played it about 300 hours (500+ according to steam but a good portion of that was spent AFK in the menu). B) I remember a month or so ago I linked you to all the threads where I gave constructive feedback on the gameplay. The vast majority of my "bashing" on the game has been directed at the DLC model and the terrible optimization. Simply saying that the skill cap is lower is not bashing, most the other games I've been playing lately also have a low skill cap. C) The only people from Reborn that post here regularly are Ami, Budwise, Whiteflash, and myself. We've all give our fair share of constructive feedback. D) Me and Hissy played a lot of Soviet 2v2 back when Ostheer was insanely overpowered in team games (invincible FHT death machine, unpenetrable Panthers, P4 spam pwnage, strafe spam galore, etc) and we lost maybe 5-7 out of the ~75 games we played, so yeah we were pretty decent back when we were interested in the game. Relic/Sega were extremely generous in giving him tons of cash and other DLC prizes. Quinn/PQ took time out of their personal lives to attend his casts, etc etc.Relic benefits from the publicity SNF brings CoH2, its not like Quinn and PQ attended just for charity reasons, they want to do some PR. FYI SNF5 has far less viewers than SNF4 did, its not like their appearances brought a substantial amount of traffic to the show. Like what kind of person asks a company for so much money ($10,000 of which he wanted $5,000 for himself) and then turns around and calls them shitty in such a public manner. That's just biting the hand that feeds you. Not sure where you are getting those numbers from (maybe you are right) but $5000 isn't very much money for the amount of effort that goes in to these things, especially when you consider that this entire site was built with SNF in mind and its probably being split with Marcus. Regardless of what people delude themselves, it does require a high amount of skill and there are plenty of viable strategies.Debatable. Like Purlictor said earlier, players that narrowly passed as above average CoH1 players are now playing on SNF. There is a reason why TFN, Inverse, Aimstrong, Sepha, DevM, Seb, 12azor, aljaz, Guderian, etc. etc. etc. have moved on, don't fool yourself in to thinking its some coincidence. Just make up your mind Ami, either say you hate the game and move on with your life or get with us an try to grow the community. I assure you, if you choose to move on, you won't be missed. Hopefully this just lets Relic move on to support the rest of us that legitimately care about this game. I don't know where the hell you get this idea that coh2.org is a democratic union of CoH fans. You're mistaken, its a monarchy run by Ami ntd Seb Hicksi and Marcus. If you don't like it then gtfo and make your own website. Edit: As plenty of other people have said, the whole Reborn circle-jerk of hating on CoH2 gets really old really fast. Why not just make your own private forums where you can cry all day and spare the rest of us your bullshit. If you think that this is just a Reborn thing then are totally oblivious. Fixed for ya buddy. Ami and Marcus busted their asses for the show when many of the other guest casters especially the strategic oriented ones weren't even interested in covering CoH2. Though the show brings a lot of publicity to the game, I don't ever remember him saying anything about how great the game is, in fact he doesn't even pressure his own clan mates in to playing it. The only thing that disappoints me is that VonIvan was allowed to participate after all the bullshit he did like stalking helpinghans, flaming Relic devs, trolling the shit out of almost everybody including Ami and some other big contributors on this site. I wasn't criticizing the game at all. Having a low skill ceiling doesn't make a game bad in my books because I enjoy BF4, Red Orchestra, Insurgency, and DayZ, all of which you can be a pretty good player after just a few days. That said, I liked CoH1 because for me personally it had the perfect balance between being semi competitive and semi casual- experience, skills (micro) and understanding of the meta game and mechanics gave you a pretty sizable advantage, though you didn't need to play the game like it was your full time job to be high level. Unfortunately CoH2 has a much a lower skill ceiling and so it is much less appealing (for me, at least). That by itself does not make CoH2 a bad game, but considering it was one of the reasons I enjoyed the original so much, it is why the game is a major disappointment to me. PS: The skill ceiling in Wargame is exponentially higher than both CoH games imo, that game is very underrated in the competitive RTS scene.

SC2 and Leauge have lots of new people winning because the esports scene is that big, not because the games are too easy. CoH2 strategy is easy mode compared to coh1 and even coh1 had a low skill ceiling compared to SC2. Top tier and high players lose to random people all the time, but SC2 players in diamond-GM probably never ever lose to someone in silver or gold. In: Lobby |
