Sometimes I'm like 99% sure that when people say a unit name and what it's intended function is (or rather, what it can actually do) they are actually talking about a completely different unit than the one I have. It's like we are both staring at a tree and the guy next to me goes "man, that polar bear sure is lazy". In: COH2 Gameplay

Pershing, 152 and KV-2 can all be great but they're map dependant, and generally get shut down by axis TDs, which are still selected usually. Yes, that was my point (and also what I said). Not really related to topic/thread, but I would very much like for all armies to have access to a heavy tank (maybe by full teching or something else). Because its an RNG cannon that misses too frequently to deal reliable damage. I can't speak for others, but that's not the reason I don't use it. The reason I don't use it is because it's doctrinal and those (two?) commanders aren't terribly great to use given the various other options one has. In fact, I'd be surprised if it gets used even 1/5th as often as a KT does. Hell, there's team games where 4+ KTs are deployed but not a single IS-2, Pershing, ISU-152, or KV-2 for the entire match. Long first setup time. Some kind of take down time and follow on setup time. Would be in very vulnerable truck form when moving. Would not be a riskless maneuver. No, I understood and basically said the same thing. It would be a more extreme version of the flak HT since it requires setup/tear-down and can't shoot while on the move. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Some questions about weapon crews and recrews21 Feb 2018, 17:56 PM ^ the absolute opacity of information regarding how things actually function is one of my biggest issues with this game. A person with much more experience of the game who knows how much penetration vehicle A has compared to vehicle B is at an enormous advantage because even just one good engagement can massively alter how a game goes in CoH2. And even just knowing "my unit can kill his in a 1v1" is often enough to get that edge. This is particularly frustrating since games can easily last 30+ minutes and into an hour (especially for team games). Luckily people on these forums (and in few twitch streams) are willing to share some good information. In: Strategy Desk

Transferred models get destination squad weapons, but keep their own base received accuracy, so merged penals are even more fragile. All the vet bonuses still apply, they just do not tranfer. If vet3 con got say 40% rec acc bonus and vet3 penal got 20% rec acc bonus, after transfer penal con model will have 20% rec acc bonus and penal weapon. Thanks for the info m80. I had assumed that the cons would be "weaker" and so didn't really risk merging with superior squads (penals, guards, shocks, etc.) unless I was at risk to wipe. The fact that they would die sooner does cast some doubt on the "it saves you MP" argument, if time loss itself wasn't enough already. Though if one were willing to use a con squad as a mobile limited reinforcement platform, I guess you could keep your "stronger squad" out on the field longer. Though I like using cons as is tbh so eh. In: COH2 Balance

But yes, they aren't going to save you much mp. Its micro tax that's not worth these 50-100mp on the long run. So they'd still be weaker, right? They retain their conscript damage/accuracy/chance-to-get-hit, etc. Or is accuracy and damage based on weapon? Would they replicate the "more damage the fewer of the squad is left" process? Sorry for the barrage of questions, but while I'm at it, here's a philosophical one: If a squad of penals is down to 1 unit, is merged with 5 cons, and then the 1 penal dies leaving only the 5 cons, is it truly still the same penal squad? Thread: My idea to balance OKW21 Feb 2018, 17:15 PM I think there needs to be a tag for threads or a subsection of "here's my hare-brained idea that will go nowhere but I thought I'd share anyway". Oh who am I kidding, that's every balance thread ;D What I think would be funny is that in practice, the flak HT emplacement would just be a much bigger and slower version of the current flak HT that OKW has except it would... also let you spawn obers form it? Currently the normal Flak-trak has to "set up" before it can shoot anyway, and is very vulnerable on its own, especially on the move. The upgraded version would just have a slower movement, a longer setup, and would perform a few base operations as well. Side note, does this mean that soviet HQ would get veterancy for healing too? Or the Ost med bunker? In: COH2 Balance
