Things to consider though, unit is 300MP and 30-32MP to reinforce. This unit is the only decent combat unit for OKW until late game, expensive Obers(non-doc). 1. it is the same mine afaik 2. the okw wire can be cut like normal wire (before it could not) but it still cant be run over by anything less than a medium iirc 3. nothing to add 4. agreed, they rock and are for some reason frequently ignored 5. VERY handy when going fast luchs into t4, i will usually drop one at base when i retreat my sturms so i can top off low health guys without teching also worth adding 6. can put away their sweeper AND get bonus repair speed with the upgrade that costs the same 7. ignore mud/deep snow 8 0.87 target size the are expensive, and losses hurt but they usually hurt the enemy more than they hurt you (assuming you don't pretend they are shock troops) and in the early game there isnt much that can stand up to them if not anticipated In: COH2 Balance

This is what my OP is (mostly) about. He said in a normal game. Its supposed to require exception play in a tight match to earn those very powerful bonuses, else it would be OP (see roaming vetted shreks blobs for example) In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Idea for Penals25 Mar 2016, 02:34 AM Jump back to quoted post25 Mar 2016, 00:49 AMFiresparks penal being a "mid-close" range unit is an artificial constraint. penal's mid and close range dps are not even that good. the wehr pio have better close range dps than the penal. the penal are just crap. their dps is neither good enough at close range nor is it good enough at long range. the american flame rifle was difficult to balance, because the flamethrower was an unique situation. It would not have made sense to nerf the rifleman in order to accommodate a DLC doctrine upgrade. The only sensible thing to do was to nerf the flamethrower itself in some way. By comparison, the penal and flamethrower are irrevocably linked to each other. there's a lot more room to work here, because the penal would be balanced and designed around the fact it's got a flamethrower. Only if penals come with the flame thrower, else we run into the problem with the 221/222 where the upgrade was a nobrainer but crippled the unit without forking out the muni. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Idea for Penals25 Mar 2016, 00:47 AM I think the biggest problem with a straight up damage buff is that it would make them like American rifles but with an extra man and Sprint... They almost need a cheese to be unique. What about giving them ptrs package and letting guards put theirs away? Might make defending a sniper too easy then :/ long/ short range specialization? From what you suggest you seem to have no clue how to use penals. Increasing far DPS is pretty pointless because it either makes flamer upgrade useless or make the buff rather pointless. A penal squad with a flamer upgrade fights better at range 20 and closer so a buff at range 35 will offer little to squad. But on the other hand your knowledge of the game mechanics is so poor that you though that the changes in hand held flamers was a nerf... Correct me if im wrong (and I very well might be) an increase to the far dps would also effect the less extreme ranges (not nearly as much but still make the dps less steep) if thats the case would would it do to their optimal range? (how much would it increase at 20m) or am I way off base here? In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Improved Emplacements Commander24 Mar 2016, 18:50 PM make indirect barrages fire a heavier payload vs building and emplacements (for everyone) say 120 damage? the target tables exist and barrage is mostly meh anyways vs attack ground (slightly faster rof wooot) this could go into helping root out enemies from buildings too, as it feels like they can sit under constant mortar fire for days... basically you put more in you get more out...
