Disables fire on the move...every single grenadier with lmg in the game where they have no other option, but with commander pick and only getting 2 G43 to 4 man squad. It's not like they are suddenly penals yolo running around with full squad of SVT-40 weapons or guards equipped with TWO DP-28 LMGs. Funny thing when nothing is ever enough for anyone...

Of 6 men having 2 firing IS gutted FOTM
Having 4 guys and only 3 firing is a normal day.

Also the lmg42 provides a whack of DPS onto a single target, the 2DPs of I recall are only slightly better COMBINED and deal damage to separate targets.

Problems with penals =/= problems with guards

I agree, but I was just saying that adding minor utility to units make them more "appealing" to use. That's the problem I see in many balance threads. People want to "see" a unit more and have fun with it, so they ask for buffs.

If you greatly buff Ostwind, Ostwind rush will be the new meta and people will demand a buff for PZIV and so on.

But by giving units some niche abilities without directly buffing them, almost everyone will be happy.

I'd stay say that for Ostwind, a Lockdown ability which gives it a suppression arc (not 360) with "reduced" range would be a good idea. Kind of like an HMG42 with reduced range. But still, just an idea which won't happen. My point is to buff them by giving them abilities.

For example, after years of release PzGrens are getting a buff which improves them while they operate near a vehicle. That's a great idea and encourage combined arms.

Personally I'm a huge fan of ability based buffs. Buffs that don't simply make the unit easier to use but instead raise the skill ceiling, imo that's how OKWs 4th and 5th vet should have been handled.

That said I don't know that the OST wind needs much more than a slight bursty buff at this point. Could be wrong but I feel it's close to a good spot

Why is everyone crying about Volks when US and Brits can have double lmgs or handheld AT and Penals rekk face and can get ptrs and sticky satchel?

Volks aren't THAT good

It might be that volks are 250mp when Tommies and rifles are 280mp or that Tommies and rifles need to side tech and dump double the muni to have double lmgs to wreck face. Of and likley have to hit base to GET those guns, not enemy territory. AND they need to throw more fuel at being able to deny cover via grenades.

As for penals, well that are 300mp and require a building that is 160mp (so getting the first penal out the OKW will can have 2 volks to support their Sturm vs 1 penal and a CE) penals are strong but pay for it by early game map control, and their AT upgrade makes them very vulnerable to stg volks. If you are afraid of the AT satchel, don't let them get within 10 range of you and you will be fine. It's there to keep you from being able to squish them and disrupt their rifles, it's defensive primarily.

Everyone is complaining about volks because they are even comparable to more expensive to get squads with more munitions dumped that require even more fuel and even more manpower to even unlock. Volks get everything without having to invest anything WHILE being able to put up a fight against larger investments

There is a bulletin that allows for just that. Give it a go and see if you feel better about the match up

Volks have simaler utitily options to cons, they have better fighting potential then cons esp when the stg,s come out. The stg is always available and is only 60 muni for a buff at all ranges. Basicly invalidating cons from that moment on if they dont have ppsh. Ppsh is doctrinal and cons laughable long range dps gets even worse because of it.
Volks can self heal at vet 3. The vet3 super durability for cons is neccesary to even give them a chance late game.

Penals are more expensive and their at option hurts their ai quite a bit. They have no ai upgrade hence their good vet.

There is basicly no down sides going volks for okw. They have none to exploit to gain an advantidge vs okw. They outspam outlast and in the midgame outdps most if not all other main lines.

Agree with most here but a few minor ammendments-the old token things of cons utility are actually done BETTER on volks. They can clear garrisons with beyond ease because they are quicker and can throw further. Their sand bags are also superior as they can be clipped into things.

Also volks self heal at vet 5 now not vet 3.
