Thread: Weapon upgrades for standard infatry squads20 Nov 2018, 06:10 AM Historically Soviet penal battalions were disgraced officers and political criminals. Their lives were not simply thrown away by being tossed into battle unarmed. They were given the shit missions with low chance of survival but they were not unarmed untrained fodder. But that doesn't matter to balance. And cons getting a weapon at vet 3 still brings the problem of wtf about their grubby performance from vet 0-2 in the later game? If Obers are struggling when they come out because of vetted enemy squads with weapons despite one of the smallest spawning target sizes around and access to a FOTM lmg that offers incredible DPS how should replacement cons fare? There should be some sort of a chance for the Soviet to bridge the vet gap like all 4 other factions can because otherwise they become vet farms and a hemorrhaging manpower bleed. In: COH2 Balance

It would make more sense to improve USF and UKF. That's called power creep. Remember when volks were buffed to help stand against rifles forgetting that USF wasn't the only match up so relic did what they do and left conscripts as is and buffed the tits off penals who are now thrashing volks and grens alike? You keep buffing everything and the furthest back on the list becomes obsolete and in need of a buff. UKF are getting snares, on a possibly 5 man 210mp unit that can arm AT. let's see where that leaves them in the realm of balance.. In: COH2 Balance

Maybe require 2nd placed for the lmg. Could really help push the mid game and allow volks to take a hit and open up the potential for some combined forces In: COH2 Balance

They get their vet 2 bonus accuracy and a vet 3 cooldown iirc which is nice, but that's it. It's still 6 dudes with rifles when yellow cover and durability buffs are flying around. They get a MASSIVE durability buff at vet 3, but that's easily offset by enemy weapon upgrades. And the biggest problem with all of their power coming from their vet is that if you happen to lose the squad that is it. It's gone. No attempt to recoup that loss. Lose a gren squad? Hurts. Slap an lmg on them and they will again burst down models. Not as frequently but the power is still there. Cons have no such redemption. For a squad that's supposed to be kinda trashy but expendable they are the least replaceable squad in the game. Thisnis why I suggest SMALL passive improvements as the Soviet player techs up to sort of offset the lack of weapon upgrades and allow cons to be replaced if need be. In the end they would still be conscripts, but maybe slightly less trashy... In: COH2 Balance

They NEVER stick around. Make it a force multiplier instead of whatever the hell it is now. Incentive to stick around might make things more interesting In: COH2 Balance
Thread: USF is trash in every mode and in every way change my mind18 Nov 2018, 23:30 PM IS at the start are as durable as panzergrens, being a smaller target size than sturmpios, which is completely reasonable when you consider that its much more risky to sit in homemade green cover and wait for the enemy to come to you than having to close is.. plus the only mainline with a global upgrade that for a 1 time cost improves their dps and durability by 25% (all while reinforcing for less than grens... cause of their poor target size i guess....) It's pretty much a crapshoot based on too many factors to quantify. Machine guns like the fg42 have a chance to hit other models if they miss but they still aim like every other squad. In a 6v4 the 4 man squad has a higher chance of more models targeting it at the same time, the 4 grens have 50% more targets to randomly aim at. Penals have slightly more dps than stg volks at all ranges, and more health. How much more do you expect a 300 mp squad to stomp a 260 mp + 60 muni squad. 250mp. You would think volks are more, but they are only 10mp more than cons. In: COH2 Balance

A larger squad size doesn't help in inf contact. It helps when under art fire. Larger squad size means higher RA for each model, and easier to lose models and fire power. Unless in green cover, Cons are more likely to lose models first and lose the fight in first contact. That's not entirely true. More models=more guns = slower drop in DPS. And then there's more models targeting so in a 6v4 match up you have 2 of the 6 not being targeted at all times and 2 of the 4 getting targeted by multiple shooters. (I know that's not EXACTLY how targeting works in game but the image should be clear enough) so more models IS better, so long as those models sent trash with no opportunity to actually scale outside a massive vet 3 power spike cough cons cough In: COH2 Balance

How could you have a 50% chance of winning with 50% more men and pay the same to replace losses? In: COH2 Balance

Why should allis allowed to blobb one unit and controll 4-6 unts as one and run around the field? Obviously blobbing is garbage and fuck relic for trying to make it easier all the time by nerfing the tits out of fantastic blob obliterators (demo and sturmtiger for example) but Ost has the ability to control blobs from the word go and can currenty build no pop blob stoppers with both grens and pios. OKW just has a more efficient and flexible counterblob. In: COH2 Balance
