You're definitely right about double-upgraded USF rifles being crazy strong. Probably too strong. Allowing squads to get double BARs/LMGs has been a problem for a long time. You would have thought that Relic would have learned their lesson when they took G43 + LMG42 combo away from Grens years ago.
Heck, probably a year ago now Relic played around with the idea of preventing squads from getting two weapons but... sadly nothing came of it.
As for the blobbing, I tried to blob as little as I could but 2v2 on crossing leaves very little room to flank/maneuver especially since it normally plays out as two 1v1s on each side of the map - for the most part our game followed that trend.
I think we would have had a harder time winning if one of you had managed to get a squad or two of LMG Obers out, but even that can be a feat against aggressive USF play. And, given enough early aggression, the Obers are still going to be fighting an uphill battle if they're up against double-upgraded Vet 3 rifles. Rifles are just so efficient and scale so well now.
The double mortars was from me, I don't think Love got one. I just had extra manpower lying around between teching since you guys ignored my side early, I didn't really bleed - figured the mortars would be a nice investment because they're crazy on that map and the USF mortar is just stupid.
All in all I did get lucky with a few Stuka dodges. Somehow none of my rifles ever got wiped despite going down to low hp/one man squads from the base hits. I was proactively dodging as best as I could, but still lucked out with some guessing of where they would land.
Not trying to brown-nose you in any way but I think if you wanted to work a little harder at getting better you could be quite a good player Gopher. Just depends on how much you feel like investing in a dying game.
Honestly, is it even Relic's fault that this game is (slowly but surely) dying? Or is it just SEGA who stopped giving them the ressources to work on this game?
Anyway Relic offered us an opportunity to fix the atm most rough balance issue soon by asking the community. This would have been imo the double lmg +arty spam cheese. So just limit M1919, Bren and Vickers k to 1 per squad and reduce rocket amount of Land matress/ rocket damage of CalliOPe and it would have been FINE AT ALL! Thats 3 small changes only! People should have chosen the option "Other" then, but I think its the freakin USF mortar who won the poll https://www.coh2.org/topic/56967/relic-wants-your-vote-about-balance

You watched Hans' stream after this match? Then you would see that Hans was not able to focus on this match AT ALL since he had some serious streaming issues (His HDMI splitter or how its called was not working properly at that time)
You'd think they would know after everyone hated them in vCoH to not break up their worst features and spread them out between OKW and UKF, but alas, here we are.

Why not balancing the game by adding ridiculously OP Panzerelite from vCoH into CoH2? Then nobody would cry anymore when each side has its OP faction. Let the sniping armored car, G43 that insta surpress heavy-covered inf and panther spam for 1000 MP begin
OMG guys, why??! Why didnt you choose the option "others"? yes usf mortar is better than all other mortars in the game for the cheap price, but its only the BARRAGE which is OP, which is fine because the player needs to invest micro management for a barrage. The main issue of mortars in this game is that the 0 micro auto fire is able to one shot squads, and not a broken barrage of 1 mortar.
The biggest balance problem in coh2 imo is the fukin arty spam + lmg blob meta cheese.
These changes for lmg and allies arty would have been SO important:
- M1919/Bren/Vickers K are now only available as an upgrade (like the lmg42 for wehr gren) and require 2 weapon slots (double-lmg squads are no longer available)
- Land matress has decreased amount of rockets per barrage
- CalliOPe rockets need damage nerf against inf and OKW HQs
