I wonder why not more players have perceived this issue yet. On certain positions in maps it is almost impossible or extremely challenging to win in certain constellation (provided both players have the same skill level), such as Langreskaya Axis south/Allies north. Other maps are horrible for one special faction as Stalingrad for Ostheer or Crossing in the Woods for USF. If CoH2's maps were kind of balanced or fair I bet gameplay would be far more enjoyable than nowadays and could allow more variety in terms of strategy too since you have to choose the best doctrines in order to equal unfair conditions caused by unwise map design.
+1
The Maps are one of the biggest issues CoH2 currently has. There is only ONE good 2v2 map and maybe 2-3 decent 1v1 maps. And by that I do not only mean map balance but also map design in general. The map are generally too narrow and don't provide enough open fields to have nice tank battles etc. (somethign like Duclair in CoH1 would be sooo cool) |
Yeah, if you and Quentin could stop spreading your weird childish posts all over the forums that'd be great... |
@Basilone
I agree with you. I play football competitively even though I'm not very good at it. However I was talking about a potential competitive gaming scene not competitive play in general. Two friends playing lobby games competitively are not going to help when you try to build a competitive scene.
|
Hm my bad in that case. I stopped following the CoH2 s scene shortly before the 1000 dollar tourney so I have no idea how it went. However I was talking about my own experience that I gained from release til Nov 2014. Every tourney that I entered during that time was lacking players. |
Let's be real here.
Is football really superior to every other sport in the world as every european says ?
I'd say yes. |
Coh2 facilitates a competition between two players.
Albeit, with RNG inbuilt, as a benefit/handicap to both players in relatively equal proportion.
This kind of lateral inequality is exactly what makes a game interesting.
Who really wants to watch a sports match between two cloned opponents playing the same faction in the same game?
Diversity, asymmetric alignments are exactly what keep everything interesting.
I'm not trying to initiate a forum fight but...what does this have to do with inverse post ?
@your other post
Yeah , I'm sorry I don't have your enormous experience from having posted 1xxx posts on two different accounts |
People in forums like this should accept that CoH2 is not competitive or start doing something in order to change something by playing the game COMPETITIVE instead of discussing useless balance topics in forums.
You made up that loop thingy. I never said that people don't participate in tourneys because they think they're useless wtf ? |
Chess is competetive. Chess is balanced.
I understand there are "competetive" players (meaning those who want to make a living playing) who approach a game from the perspective of which is most popular and lucrative, in terms of what to dedicate theirntime and effort to.
But.
There are however fking Minecraft players too who make a living simply off that.
Pewdiepie, doesnt have a competetive bone in his entire body.
If Relic has some spare thousands to drop on the game for promotion and advertisement, why not. Its the best product they have, regardless of whether it is considered "hip" by the co petetive community or not. You use what you have. Its readily clear, insofar as viewer numbers, that the balance/"designed competiviness" is not the bottom line.
Some people seem to be losing perspective of the larger picture.
Tournaments/streams are about entertainment value, not "competitiveness".
If it was only about an immaculate balance/competition quotient, we would all be watching chess.
And no, we aint. Why? Because its about as entertaining to the average viewer, as watching paint dry.
My point was that there is no need for tourneys because no one participates in them anyways.

I'm not bullying anyone. I'm not blaming noobs either. there's obviously nothing wrong with being bad at a video game.
Snf had a ridiculous amount of no shows and 3 out of 4 quality tourneys weren't filled afaik.

Yeah, people are constantly talking about a competitive scene blablahblah but when it comes to participating in a tourney they either don't sign up at all or refuse to show up. I remember playing in a Esl 2v2 cup with only 4 teams participating lol. Same with observer mode. It's a pretty useless feature tbb considering that it's used by 1-2 people on average. Love all the forum warriors with their huge philosophical debates about a game that they don't even play on a semi decent level. This game never had the potential to be played competitive cuz there are not enough competent players. There are like 100 people who can play this game properly. And maybe 20 of them have the balls to play a tourney. The rest would be considered scrubs in most other games.
This makes me sound like an asshole but it's the CoH 2 reality. |
