Ostheer is fine

Joke of the day.

When was the last time you did see Panzerwerfers, Flame-HTs, 105mm Haubitze and to some extend StuGs being used in competitive gaming? There are too many useless units for Ostheer.

The same applies to Soviets (SU-76, lategame Conscripts).

The old factions are lackluster.

Running into MG42s is standard gameplay.

USA hard counter Ostheer. Run into their MGs with infantry and kill off the gunners. Finish their tanks with Jacksons before the Ost-player can react. I win button P47s to top it off. Totally l2p.

In North Africa the Italians were not the first choice to lead an attack, but rather hold the lines. I don´t know how this could turn out to be an interesting faction in Coh.

To quote Rommel about the Italians:

"The Italian command was, for the most part, not equal to the task of carrying on war in the desert, where the requirement was lightning decision followed by immediate action. The training of the Italian infantryman fell far short of the standard required by modern warfare. … Particularly harmful was the all pervading differentiation between officer and man. While the men had to make shift without field-kitchens, the officers, or many of them, refused adamantly to forgo their several course meals. Many officers, again, considered it unnecessary to put in an appearance during battle and thus set the men an example. All in all, therefore, it was small wonder that the Italian soldier, who incidentally was extraordinarily modest in his needs, developed a feeling of inferiority which accounted for his occasional failure and moments of crisis. There was no foreseeable hope of a change for the better in any of these matters, although many of the bigger men among the Italian officers were making sincere efforts in that direction."

The most fucked up thing in this game was me having a Tiger that vetted up when destroying an ambulance: "The women love heroes", the Tiger crew told me.

Actually the Polish cavalry relied on anti tank rifles to fight German tanks. They actually were quite successful. The horses were for transportation, then the troops dismounted and fought.

Nazi propaganda just turned it into them using swords to show how "inferior" they were.



As for British: They have the biggest potential for a new faction: Churchills, Cromwells, Fireflies etc.

If it´s actually true that they are going to be introduced I just hope they don´t turn out to be as bad and annoying of a faction as they used to be in Coh1. A totally static army doesn´t belong into Coh.

Weakest faction in the game is Ostheer.

MG42s get run over by US riflemen. Either it´s smoke or two squads. Or late game bars and .30 cals sniping the MG42 gunners. Thus the essential part of Ostheer is hard countered by the unit it is supposed to defeat.

This leaves you with fragile 4 men Grens (still outclassed by rifles) and T3. T3 is hard countered by a single Jackson btw. T4 is hardly viable.

Which then leaves you with the Tiger. On equal skill however the Tiger is also hard countered by Jacksons. Someone will eventually show up here and complain about the Jacksons penetration, but 240dmg and 60 range still finish off Ostheer tanks faster than balance demands.

Good players might combine their Ostheer tanks with Paks. But a blob of infantry usually just runs into the MG42 defended Paks and turns them against you. Lol, gg kthxbye.

Same applies to Maxims vs OKW.

Sry for the rant, but this essentially describes 80% of the games I played last month. I lost more games than ever as I don´t own the two new factions. Losing most of the games now. Hardly a L2P issue btw as I used to be Nr.1 on the 2v2 ladder for quite a while.

Until the next patch comes out and at least makes MGs viable again I´m taking a "creative break" from this game.
