Thread: Ostheer: What is to be done?26 Feb 2015, 14:43 PM The problem with USF vs Ostheer, it pretty much always comes down to this situation: Rifle blob + Jacksons > Grens + Paks + P4 or Tiger 1) The Rifle blob kills the Paks faster than the P4/Tiger and Grens kill the Rifle blob. 2) Paks are gone and in worst case re-crewed by the US player. Now everything collapses. 3) The P4/Tiger stand no chance vs 240 dmg, high mobility and 60 range Jacksons. If you keep the Paks safe and at a distance, they won´t reach the Jacksons. If you want to engage Jacksons successfully, you have to keep the Paks in line with the Tigers. However then they get killed in a matter of seconds by Rifles. 4) Optional: OP doctrine, P47 rocket strike and Airborne with MG to finish off any tank or infantry immediately. In: COH2 Gameplay

It can stand one AT hit and has good use as a counter to the US M20 scout car, versus Snipers and MGs aswell as a map hack with a scope doctrine. As mentioned before the units you hardly see being used, need to be brought back into the game, such as: MG 42, 251 - Flammenwerfer, Panzerwerfer, StuG. That and a cost decrease for teching and a cost increase for call-ins in general. In: COH2 Gameplay

I meant to say that Grens are still more viable than MGs. And that is a fact. If you buff Grens and don´t buff the MG, things wont become better. Then Ostheer turns into the same OP shit as OKW and USF blobs. Ostheer should rather rely on a good combination of good performing MGs and decent Grens. Not strong Grens and poor MGs. Thread: Ostheer - MG42 18 Feb 2015, 12:59 PM If people fear that suppression adjustments would make the MG42 overpowered early, one could consider giving it some additional performance bonus at vet1 (similar to Volks vet1) other than the ability to fire incendiary ammo. Thus it can become useful with vet1 already and doesn´t cause major balance changes too early. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Ostheer - MG42 17 Feb 2015, 12:01 PM All these IRL arguments aside: Infantry squads running straight up to the MG in the arc of fire only to lob a grenade and finish off the MG is silly and bad game mechanics. MGs need to be able to suppress infantry, even multiple squads. It´s the best way to prevent blobbing. This applies to all MGs. If people feel MGs are then overpowered, reduce the capping rate (like they once did with Osttruppen) or make them more expensive. But infantry running into their hard counters and winning is bullshit. In: COH2 Balance
