So no new skins or decals or achievements since last Feb? |
Latest update mentions only one vet-related change:
"Stormtrooper Veterancy requirements have been set to the correct levels"
Whatever that might entail ,just heads up and such. |
I actually typed up a Japanese faction idea a few months ago, not finished but it's got a lot of stuff. It's geared for a CoH3 setting against a USMC counterpart, though utilizing concepts like the commander system.
In terms of unit and structure design it was based quite heavily off of the Imperial Guard from Dawn of War: a single HQ base building that can train most units, and forward base buildings that can transport infantry squads like how the aforementioned game works. Units are relatively light and focused very heavily on combined arms, almost too much in retrospect- you pretty much had to have two untis to face off against the enemy's one in order to really work, obviously had its limitations. It also made the Japanese faction very underdog-oriented, which would be fun at times but didn't really allow for any real powerful unit plays as I tried to keep it within reasonable historicity (re no Type 5 Chi Ri heavy tanks). I also developed the unit roster more akin to the other CoH2 factions (whereas, no offense intended, many people's ideas tend to copy the Ostheer style which seem very bland, especially given they want a third Axis faction for CoH2).
I suppose in the end it was basically combining many of the bad elements of COH2 factions into a neat and unique kind of faction with it's own playstyle, but ultimately wouldn't seem very appealing to play consistently. It certainly felt very realistic in portraying the IJA's dire circumstance, but also means you're basically pitting the COH2 equivalent of early-game Russians against late-game OKW. The USMC counterpart, which I did not write up, would have been so much more easier and straightforward to play in comparison.
Another thing to add, when trying to seriously design said faction I concluded that it's nearly impossible without also trying to design an appropriate counterpart, namely the US Marines, which would essentially have to be USF but without any heavy weaponry, AND even more reliant on lighter, mobile playstyle than the USF in COH2. I didn't have the time to do that so I stopped.
As for COH2 faction, can't imagine it without making even more liberal interpretations with reality. You'd have to be even more ridiculous than alpha-era UKF to have it viable, plus all the political correctness about melee fighting and banzai charges and all the other IJA overdone tropes.

For perspective, Starcraft 2 allows you to play the game using SC2 or the classic SC1 soundtracks; you can toggle between them in the menu (which, is really big and diverse).
And that game's older than CoH2. |
I believe, last I played, Wehr Tank Hunters are in ToW scenarios when you play as Germans, they are just Panzergrenadiers with MP40s and AT Rifles.
Of course this makes them garbage versions of PGrens. If anything they should be AT variants of Osttruppen..if for any reason you needed them. |
Don't Racketens move like molasses when stealthed too?
Anyways I do think cloaked should remove, or at least reduce, capping. But I do think similar logic should apply to other stealthed units like snipers. |
No abandon is the most practical, especially given that its much superior counterpart, UKF Bofors, has that benefit.
But if what Omega says is true- it's impossible aside from Relic spending time on rebuilding the most underused emplacement in CoH1 history from scratch- then the next option is simply give it super buffs.
End of the day though, would you really want to spend your fuel and Sturmpioniers building a small limited emplacement that does what your MG34 already does?
In that case maybe just removing it entirely and replacing it with something more practical like, I dunno hull down, may be more beneficial and opens up more strategies. The 2cm emplacement unlocks are found in defensive-oriented commanders. |
The result would be even more/ return of the Volksblob. |
Think how much less bitter and twisted you'd be if you just gave up a bit more of your pocket money...
...every six months. |
if you got all important commander than you prob never care about them
since i got only opel blitz tiger commander and rest basic commander of all factions it feels bit unfair to play against the better commanders :')
Then you better pay up boy.
Oops did I just reveal what the system's really designed for??
So after 2-3years and 999 pages of forum feedback they are still not sure how to 'fix', make it good and need to do 'alpha test'.
No, they've already made it, they just want to gain some press by advertising it and making it look like the community took part in constructing it.
Alphas are just projects that are given early public access. It's not like we've made significant changes when they go live; the closest was after a LOT of bitching, and they pull out features just to put them back in later. |
