Well, if you can show me some replays where crew-hopping was a game changing difference, I'd change my mind. But with Allies, positioning/micro > vet.
Anyway, just my opinion. The PITA micro of US late game makes me furious vs what I have to do as any other faction.

Thread: Let's Make USA Easier to Play Late Game9 Mar 2015, 23:59 PM
Having gone back a bit to my most hated faction, I still don't like them much. Let's talk about late-game micro, not the penetration and armor values. What is it that makes US such a pain to play? Extra micro no other faction has to do. Not only are you managing a crap ton of squads, which you need to spread out (unless you're a pro-blobber) and micro, but your tanks are paper-mache dolls that can pack a punch but need more micro than Axis tanks. Axis players reverse out of trouble, call up a pio to repair. Generally Ostheer and particularly OKW have less armor to manage but US needs at least 3 tanks on the field to be effective and counter everything coming (in an even game). You have to quickly reverse ALL your tanks (if something you can't handle is running up, like a shrek blob) then additionally, instead of just starting repairs one by one, pop out of each tank individually, then do more clicking to get back in them. At least Relic threw us a bone by having repairs auto-start, and this was obviously in deference to some playtesting that revealed US had too much clicking to do vs the other factions. But this whole process still takes valuable seconds that stops you from microing your infantry, and those seconds are multiplied by the number of tanks you have. Whereas an Axis player is either backing up to his repair truck or tasking a few pios to repair tanks one by one (given that this is the most efficient way to get armor back in action faster). So basically a US player is always on the backfoot late game microwise. And given the fragility of US infantry and armor, this means late game action is always much more difficult. Relic obviously thought the ability to recrew tanks with veteran units (to get your Jackson up to vet 2 by exchanging crews with a Sherman or Scott to deal with a Tiger) was the asymmetric balance mechanism. But I don't think anyone could argue that this is really doing all that much for US players. So, Relic, let's just get rid of separate crews. Give rear echelons stronger repairs and drop the whole crew system for medium tanks (we can keep it for the lights, it's cool and popping out of an M3 to counter a Puma is neato and rewarding). I think this alone, rather than screwing around with the units, or giving US a Pershing, would make the US substantially easier to play late game and have a better chance of winning. Thread: Rework Aircraft & AA Mechanic9 Mar 2015, 05:48 AM
It was my understanding from an interview with the developers (pretty sure it's this one: [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO4R6TOFxlY]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO4R6TOFxlY) that anti-air would be a major part of WFA...Everything should have an anti-air mode by default, but that turns into a kind of lame "click faster" thing, where the guy who hotkeys and activates it faster wins every time. I think all strafes should have vCOH style targeting really. Remember those epic airborne bombing runs? Area of effect is too easy. Can keep the bombs that target one spot, they all have smoke. Really they should also bring the V1 back. I wish they would have just not tried to be so original and just keep mechanics that worked fine in vCOH... In: COH2 Gameplay |
Thread: Queuing up orders with SHIFT8 Mar 2015, 17:02 PM
While we're at it - I've noticed the shift click fail too - anyone else have issues with the tactical map not switching to the battle map when double clicking? I usually have to spam clicks, so I'm trying to get in the habit of selecting a squad then using the hotkey (which I have mapped to a mouse button) but it's just annoying. In: COH2 Gameplay |
Thread: Nearly Beaten by NoobFHQ8 Mar 2015, 07:15 AM
Hats off to these rank 1800+ players for giving us a really hard game. So many mines, so many demo packs, so many T-34/85s. I made a crucial mistake in setting up med too early when I didn't know yet they were going for FHQs. And Banana goes for a charge with multiple PzIVs with predictably bad results. Most annoying game ever. The problem with Sovs these days is anyone can spam stuff to call-ins (we killed like 8 T-34/85s). They were barely microed and we still had a horrible time. And sure we could have used more armor, but hey, panzergrens! Like to see a cast because this was just ridiculous in every possible way. In: Replays |
Thread: Lets talk Stuart7 Mar 2015, 21:16 PM
Just a note, I actually saw a guy use a Stuart with a Jackson in tandem really well the other day. If you have the speed to trigger the blind ability while microing two tanks, it's actually extremely effective against an unsupported tank. I was so surprised to see it, it totally threw me and I lost the game because I didn't get ma panther away in time. In: COH2 Balance |

Doesn't beat my epic Soviet propaganda war "death by a thousand papercuts"! Like literally epic (above legendary). Though winning a game with NKVD is epic as well. #NKVDHype In: Lobby |

It's not your sound levels, it's your style. You talk very softly, it's very relaxing, but not good for casting. You need to turn up the excitement about 10 notches. Make some jokes, talk about your beer (the best vCOH casts were drunk guys), make it entertaining. In: COH2 Shoutcasts |

Low player numbers. Even lower numbers for the competitive modes (1v1 and 2v2.) You see the same people all the time in those, and if no one in your ELO bracket is available it eventually gives you a game anyway. You can stop and restart search every minute or so to stay in your bracket. In: COH2 Gameplay |
