Unless you're buying at least five of them, then cost increase is 100% offset by bonus starting menpower.
Build time increase is irrelevant, because first one requires less time to hit the field and 2nd one arrives at pretty much the same time as before due to standard menpower limitations of early game.

Its still cheaper and better at literally everything then .50 cal.

Just wanted to put that here for you.

Woa where is the poll option to further increase its suppression? Biased poll!

Katitof: Allied team-gamer partisan not happy until factions are exact duplicates with different skins. Then he would complain about Axis unit skins giving unfair advantage. What relevance does the .50 cal have to this discussion at all?

Less damage would be nice, it's now a front line unit not a support unit thanks to the high damage. Supression is fine imo as well.

Less damage is the way to go. Currently, the mg42 has enough dps to clear garrisons even when the squads inside are in range of the mg. It discourages combined arms, and makes no sense in the context of the game. That or increase price to 280.

Damage is irrelavant since a supressed unit will be most likely forced to retreat anyway but its nice to see who the blobbers are.

The damage is only really relevant if you're charging up close and personal to the MG without smoke cover or drawing fire and flanking with another squad.

Or the alternative is that you're leaving your guys pinned and taking the hits from the MG. I've seen that happen a few times, even in the higher level games.

Since all that freedom have blocked you some synapses, the relevance is cost effectiveness.

If you have 2 units of same role, one with superior stats and lesser cost then another, you have a cost efficiency imbalance.

Difference is
1. 42 instasupresses in green cover. Maxim doesnt supressin GC at all.
2. Has powerful AT rounds.
3. arc

Its slightly OP unit. But fast sov tech balances it.

Well if long range damage is irrelevant anyway I think it can be nerfed to the ground and everyone will be happy.

MG42 doesn't instant suppress squads in GC. IT DOES NOT! It will eventually suppress but not for several seconds.
Sov can deal with MG42, but USF could use a mortar to help. I will say that I still play with/against a majority of USF players that still blob straight into MG positions then have to retreat because they all get pinned.

Facts:
- Slower building rate is compensated by moving it to T0 (don't have to wait for building T1)
- Cost increase is compensated by increasing Wehrmacht starting manpower

Personal opinion:
- Cost effectivness has increased despite increase of its cost (long range damage buff 2 patches ago, suppression buff last patch)

Anything else?

People grew entitled to the fact that the MG42 was weak - all you guys whining need to adapt.
We don't need another phase of wiping the MG42 frontal with blobs.

There are enough counter tools (onmap arty, smoke & flanking) but people who whine refuse to use them.

+1 to slight damage nerf, I'd argue that damage matters for incendiary rounds vs. vehicles and garrisoned troops (it's kind of silly that a suppression platform can force infantry out of nearby building through sheer damage alone).

For the most part I think it's fine though, it's counterable with varying levels of difficulty depending on map. I wouldn't touch the suppression level at any rate.

Yeah who needs pak43 or elefant when you have mg42 *ANTITANK* rounds? lol, it can even kill is2 in 2-3 burst, its hilarious. I totally agree.

Also agree on the instasupresses in green cover, totally d'accord.
