They seem to be in a good place when i use them. They are basically rifles with thomsons
They die fast when focus fired

325 is way too low for Rangers, 400-425 would be a fairer price. These guys have the highest DPS of any squad in the game with the possible exception of Obersoldaten. They can beat Soviet Shock Troops despite their armour and numerical advantage, and even have a chance at going man-to-man with Obersoldaten if they charge them down (sprint) from max range.
That aside, I 110% expect to see a Ranger commander come to Multiplayer some time after AA releases.

USF doesn't need anything elite. They had nothing compared to the übermensch. And the lost the war because they couldn't kill king-tigers. I learned this from COH2 now go back to spamming riflemen peasant.
The PTRS's are fine as they are. Whenever i'm up against Guard Infantry, I always have to be careful with my vehicles or the Guards will completely destroy them. Good range, good damage and fairly cheap; if anything, the PTRS should nerfed since it's ridiculously good for the price. Even in the hands of Conscripts, the PTRS's are extremely potent.

Your right. Non stop air strikes would be boring. Also having 10 fuel Sherman's would get old. So just make USF units stronger so they are asymmetric which is to mean as good but different not outright inferior. They simply cannot model allied logistical or numerical advantages and make it interesting. Rangers would be a good start if cost balanced.
