Maybe strum pio's assault rifle profile is not correct. To me, I see strum pio's range is long and medium and short though my infantry squad is in green cover.


Sturm pios are same as pgrens and pgrens are more effective then conscripts at long range.

Thanks. That confirms what I need to know. They are better at every single range by a considerable amount. Conscripts and rifle men ARE NOT a valid counter. Back to a dual sniper opening I guess.

Deal with them like you deal with Assault Grenadiers. They're not even close to OP and their reinforce is 40mp. More than 2 will bleed your mp in first few minutes of the game

They are a valid counter at long range. Don't forget conscripts have 6 men and 6 weapons.

I didn't say that.
Read the topic before posting brainless shizzle.

Also, it's not about getting that right counter.
Everything has a counter. Even the Shocks before the patch.
It's about high DPS as first unit against the other factions first unit.

I love some of dem guys here not even reading that.

It's great that sturmpios are so dangerous if you mis-micro against them. It makes the early game more interesting, pios vs engies is boring, fighting sturmpios is exciting.

Is that saying they are OP? No, in my opinion they should not outperform.

Sturmpio's not OP, they are counterable ofcourse but I want to discuss something with the guys here who have big brains. OK, sure.

Compare Rear Echelon - Combat Pio's - Pio's - Sturmpio's.

First units should not outperform others in that way. So OP then, if it shouldnt do its role.
I understand the idea about having an elite faction, but not that early. Elite faction is elite and expensive. No exceptions. You hear Sturmpioneer and think badass pioneers, but get a wimpy four man team? Eh, no.
Make them upgradable, sure. More armor? sure. But early shocks is not good for balance imo. They are expensive. They dont have armor. They are four man. They dont throw grenades to give them any advantage, or smokes to avoid suppression.



Maybe use your whole post instead of nitpicking the information that suits you better?

Sounds like an overreaction to Sturmpioneers since you have to think differently. Having to counter Sturmpioneers different than any other engineering squad? Proposterous. -_-

Back then anything else the soviets made was trash. Now soviet infantry is much better to handle Expensive, Unarmored Four Man Squads. Wait, how much armor did shocks have back then, again?

I dont understand. Soviet combined arms used offensively is a pain to take care of. But... they are not allowed to use combined arms to defend themselves?

Do you mean conscripts? even if its better at longer range you cannot ignore the difference in hp and cost. and 40 mp per man should do more damage then a 20 mp script.

Sturmpios have the same profile but their curve is shifted down slightly. Also consider that Sturmpios have 320 hitpoints, conscripts have 480 hitpoints and riflemen have 400 hitpoints.

The thing is Shocktroops were nearly invincible to early game units because of their high armor value, which is not the case for Sturmpioniere at all.

If you want to say something, then say it. Dont be vague about it. I said, its easy to assume that you think Sturmpioneers are OP, and you wouldnt argue as much if you thought otherwise. Counter sturmpioneers like panzergrenadiers - you have access to their counters at the same time, but Sturmpioneers dont counter tanks. M3? Maxims? ...
