They are effective at medium range, maybe who you are shooting at is in cover? A large reason they are so effective at close range is because you flank behind their cover. If you're up against shocks or cons with ppsh keep them at medium range behind cover and they'll be very effective.

The STG44 is not just for close combat. This is already represented in the game. So instead of lecturing the developers on the history of the STG44, why don't you go ahead and inform yourself on the in game stats of the STG44.

The STG44 never loses to a rifle at any range. Unlike SMGs such as the MP40 and PPSH41, who only do more damage up close, and lose at longer ranges.

Assault rifles are basically the combo between a rifle bullet and a submachinegun's rate of fire so medium - to even long ranges are suited for PG's. When engaging shock troops or ppsh equipped cons, don't even think of getting up close and personal with them, just engage them at medium range and in cover and PG's will set up a good fight.

cause else you are nuts mp44 aka stg44 is the first assault rifle in history and one of the deadliest weapons in wwII

If we wanted to be realistic, wouldn't the StG be handled kinda like the G43 is now? Doctrinal weapon, only handed out to squads as an upgrade?
