Diversity over balance... I always thought, that in "assymetrical balance" main word is not "assymetrical", but word "balance".
Well, you're wrong as these two are equals, unless you want to make game with same factions and different skins.
Btw, in vCoH all HMG teams (MG-42, 0.30, Vikkers commando) design was pretty same - all were deffensive. But there was faction diversity and nobody complained about it.
Except, bruts used Bren carrier for suppression or later on doctrinal vickers, USF one had lower suppression and higher damage and MG42 was MG42, PE used 250HTs or G43 for suppression or had none at all, then G43 were changed into snares.
For example - veterancy system. In vCoH each faction had it's own vet system, and that was cool. In CoH 2 only one faction has different vet system - OKW. And not that much different, only 2 additional stars.
Oh yeah, that worked well, especially for brits and wehr
Anyway - "mirrored" HMGs won't ruin CoH2, assymetry and all that stuff. Don't worry about it.
No, they won't.
But they also won't go that way, because there are other principles for these units depending on faction. |
There is one more thing related to medic hq. Now that is a price to pay for medics upgrade, which is fine, I would work a little at FRP cost. If we consider a FRP, there should be medics also. The investment is too high for both of them, and an outside base FRP looks verry inatractive in balance preview patch (before it involved risks + moderate cost, now it involves risks + high costs). I think this FRP option must still be viable. So a cost reduction for FRP upgrade souldn't harm.
Oh wow!
OKW FRP is actually an important economical decision now that isn't appealing 100% of the time?
What the world has come to!
The only thing that changed here is 100/15 cost, this is hardly high or crippling.
You still have best and most durable FRP in the game if you choose to place it forward.
Not everything OKW has needs to be no-brainer choice and we're going to that place with the changes. |
Well, the weapon isn't really bad at all, no denying that.
I'd say it would be more useful if it was more accessible, aka cheaper.
It won't make the crews into normal inf, but you can feel the pain if you're not careful.
|
Well how do you know what relic intended? The squad uses para thompsons and gets above average received accuracy pretty fast.
Get that M10 behind AT gun/weapon team, jump out, mow down the crew, jump back in, proceed on the journey to find a new adventure?
So my assumption is to use them as more micro intensive rangers. And for the most part it works, they beat just about anything if you don't just for the motherland style them across red cover.
And they're better than bars at extreme cqc, so there's your reason to upgrade one squad with a thompson.
They don't have any kind of combat scaling, the moment 2nd vet star appears for the enemy, their effectiveness diminishes rapidly unless, as I've said, you put them vs team weapons.
I mean I'd rather have them for combat than a bar rear echelon. Nothing unsolid at all about a 4 rifle captain Thompson crew composition in the late early game.
If you ignore the part, where they don't have combat scaling and can't fight effectively non vet0-1 inf |
Even 14 seems like a stretch.
It has one single role, it gets countered by multiple units, its almost never good idea to build it for the fuel cost alone.
No one in his right mind will put a fifth of popcap for immobile AT gun.
Sure, it can't be one shoted by off-map like PaK43 can, but other then that it really isn't more survivable. |
Thats exactly what I ment under "being out of position", if unsupported mg happens to be attacked by double obers it won't win and usually won't escape, whether it is maxim, .50 or vickers.
There isn't really such thing as out of position.
There isn't green cover at all times for it to hide behind and whatever right clicks it, makes it unable to retreat.
You can't "counter" death loop, because there is nothing that would prevent or mitigate it.
And by the way, vickers and .50 cal teleport to another squad member, just like HMG42 and 34.
#themoreyouknow |
Everybody concerned about "death loop" should consider buying medics. It happens only if all crewmen are low on health or maxim is totally out of position facing a blob.
Wrong.
It happens every single time there is more then one squad shooting at maxim, a pair of obers can just frontally assault it, it won't shoot back, it won't run away, because gunner will constantly get gunned down. |
Obviously dealing with shreck blobs seems easier now, that they don't exist |
I also used to be against volk shrecks. But allies arty is getting buffs on an unimaginable scale.
Damn, you sure are terrified by the sole thought of encountering these overpowering arty pieces like Scott or Suxton. |
Shrecks on Volks are totally OP. Now where did I put my two bazookas...?
Over there, right next to immense AI firepower loss, to the left of moderate penetration vs high armor. |
