Speaking of corporate power, people need to learn the big difference between real entrepreneurship vs financial parasites (robber barons) /fraud/unethical business practices.
When Chinese state media is doing more journalism than Western legacy media (corporate propaganda machine), you know that these financial parasites/robber barons have gone completely off the rails.
There does not need to be anything in game really.
Relic hiring for diversity instead of merit alone can impact quality of the game in extremely negative way and since they are canada based, which is one of the most obsessed countries on the planet regarding that, I can assure you, they are wasting a lot of time on that bullshit they could have dedicated to improving the game itself.
Congrats on asking tough questions.
This US/British corporate empire is living beyond its means and will likely face a financial collapse, soon rather than later.
There is no way to sugarcoat this.
Corporate cartels such as big tech, big pharma, big banking and the war profiteers have hijacked North America.
The only question remains if the US military is able and willing to do its job and prevent a chaotic civil war/secession.
Watch this clip from Network;
As the saying goes;
The sun never sets on the British Empire as We The Corporations.
True. I have given up on current Relic. They are just not competent/passionate/skilled to get COH3 up to a decent level. They are totally tone-deaf in communicating with the community. They are slow to get upgrades out. They don`t acknowledge the crappy state of the game. It`s just not good enough. I feel bad for everyone that paid the full price for it.
If the new Glassdoor review is accurate, one former Relic employee (5 years with the studio) is encouraging Relic friends to start looking for another job.
Pros
It's a company in decline. No positive reason to work here as its a company that cannot generate a profit.
Cons I'm of the strong opinion that the studio will be filling for bankruptcy by the end of 2023. All the signs are there and the gaming community world wide have voiced very negative options about the games that have been released by Relic in the last 10 years. Although I could go on and on about the other failures upper management is responsible for, I'm really just here to warn my friends to start looking for another job.
For genuine talent leaving Relic, I have this to say;
Adversities are not necessarily a bad thing. It can sometimes help build character such as this;
Relic at this point is just not competent enough to make COH3 as good as it should/could be. I have given up on this.
New Relic = EA Bioware 2.0
The inmates are running the asylum.
Dysfunctional corporate oppression = 1984.
Functional oppression = China.
It's not just Corporate Relic/Sega (follow the money for the truth).

EctoLife: The World’s First Artificial Womb Facility:
David Eby, British Columbia’s attorney general, has said “We are famous internationally – or, more accurately, we have become infamous – for money laundering. The sheer volume and the size of these transactions on a regular basis in casinos is just astounding.”
The Steam president said that his thoughts aren’t a reflection “about the underlying technology” but more so people that use the “opportunity to rip customers off, or engage in money laundering, or other things like that.”
During covid-19 restrictions and the shutdown of physical casinos, where did all the dark money go?
Sadly, corruption is the most profitable industry on this planet. Even in my small country, money laundering is a massive operation.
On a positive note;

I do not play Coh3. So I am asking you players a question. Is Coh3 fun to play? If not, what makes it not fun?
Just a heads up:
After CoH3 hustle, Sega is pretty much done milking RTS fans. They got bigger fish to fry.

I'd like to say that I hope I'm wrong but I'll probably be happy if this game, and Relic in general, die completely, in the hopes that someone will step up to fill the void with something actually worth playing.
That's 100 % deserved.
The problem with Sega higher ups is not only corporate greed, but overrated marketing clowns who make foolish decisions.
Example;
What killed DoW3 as DOA was not only Relic, but a defective in-game store and progression-based economy (called Skull currency).
As a marketing team behind DoW3 they had one job. Don't even have to reinvent the wheel and can just copy paste any functional in-game store/progression based economy.
Simple right? Not for Sega.
3 Relic games in a row (CoH2, DoW3, CoH3) and each one with various flaws to it’s monetization model that should not exists for a big budget RTS game.
Had the DoW3 monetization schemes not been such a dumpster fire, Sega could have kept the game on life support with a skeleton crew.
Keeping the small studio-vibe is very much a choice as the industry veterans could easily grow the studio if they wanted to (just look at the history of CCP/EvE Online).
Just in terms of in-game store, KARDS blows CoH3 out of the water.
The WW2 art and background music is also better than CoH3;
Let’s me emphasize;
23 devs studio vs Relic 300+ devs studio supported by Sega’s multi-billion company.
Sega/Relic higher ups are gaslighting everyone that they are doing a “great job” with the CoH IP.
When in reality CoH3 can’t even compete with a PC/mobile team such as KARDS..
“Company of Heroes 3 is by far the biggest game in the franchise’s history. We’re eager to see players pursuing their own strategies on the dynamic campaign map and having unpredictable experiences in skirmish and multiplayer. We like to say “every battle tells a story”, and that’s more true than ever in CoH3,” Mele emphasised, and we couldn’t agree more.
Uncomfortable truth?
As early access game (current state of the game), this shitshow is perhabs one of the biggest marketing scams in the history of RTS (steam sales).
>>Relic/Sega business meeting; "Nod or no bonus this year";
A group of 144 workers are forming a union at SEGA’s American headquarters in Irvine, California. SEGA follows in the footsteps of workers at other gaming companies like Microsoft-owned ZeniMax and Activision Blizzard, which both unionized last year.
The gaming giant behind franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog and Total War, SEGA has not yet voluntarily recognized the union or responded to TechCrunch’s request for comment. If SEGA does not recognize the union, the eligible workers can conduct an election through the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB); workers expect that this vote would pass, since there are only about 170 eligible workers, and a supermajority has already joined the union.
SEGA’s union stands out from its peers in the gaming industry’s burgeoning labor movement, since it spans across departments. Union members, who organized through the Communications Workers of America (CWA), work in marketing, product design, localization, quality assurance and more.
Em Geiger, a temp editor in localization who has been at SEGA since 2018, thinks that the union was able to unite multiple departments because workers have had the opportunity to connect with their peers across disciplines.
“There are opportunities for different departments to mingle and to get to know one another,” Geiger told TechCrunch, citing examples like all-hands “shout out” meetings, where employees are encouraged to publicly acknowledge their co-workers’ achievements. “This turned from just wanting to better the workplace that we are in to wanting to ensure that our co-workers and friends across departments receive better treatment than what they’re currently getting.”
We believe that the passionate, hardworking people at our Irvine offices deserve a say in our working conditions, and we are joining together to advocate for change in our workplace.
This is our vision for the path forward. #UnionizeSEGA
Geiger says that this unionization effort has been in the works for a long time, and was not a direct response to union efforts at other gaming companies. However, the successful union efforts at other studios have been affirming.
“It certainly did inspire confidence, seeing so many other gaming companies finally asserting their rights to organize, and going public with their efforts,” they said. “We are very lucky to be riding this wave of people who are starting to show more support for the idea of unions in general.”
The union, known as AEGIS-CWA (Allied Employees Guild Improving SEGA), is advocating for higher base pay, improved benefits like healthcare, retirement and remote work options, clearer opportunities for advancement, and increased staffing to combat overwork and burnout. The concept of “crunch” — or, working extreme hours to meet a deadline to release a game — is endemic to the gaming industry, spurring this sudden movement of unionization at studios.
Microsoft, which houses many gaming divisions, has a legally binding labor neutrality agreement, which means that it will not stand in the way of union organizing. This isn’t the norm in the tech sphere. Activision Blizzard, which is expected to become part of Microsoft if its merger isn’t blocked by the government, has been found by the NLRB to have unlawfully retaliated against unionizing workers.
When it comes to SEGA, temp QA tester Winry Ramsey, who has been in this role since August, isn’t quite sure how the company will respond.
“It’s too early to tell on that one,” Ramsey told TechCrunch. “I’m mostly just excited with how much public support we already have.”
My view on this;
Kudos for doing something.
Unfortunately, badly organized and/or corrupt unions can do more harm than good. The AAA gaming industry is already corrupt with shady marketing and predatory business practices.
It's like trying to build a house on quicksand.
Speaking of failures in recruitment;
Virtue seeking is not the same as virtue signaling.
Hiring a bunch of virtue-signaling employees to boost shady marketing and ESG scores (a feel-good scam) is a sure way to get into a death spiral.
Under EU law, standard contract terms used by traders have to be fair. This doesn't change if they're called "terms and conditions" or are part of a detailed contract that you actually have to sign. The contract is not allowed to create an imbalance between your rights and obligations as a consumer and the rights and obligations of sellers and suppliers.
If you find unfair terms in your contract
Contract terms that are unfair under EU law have no legal or binding force on consumers.
Examples of unfair business practices include untruthful information to consumers or aggressive marketing techniques to influence their choices.
Corporations do not make law (private contracts, yes), the government does.
Interesting facts related to the decline of Rovio and Sega marketing;
February 23 is Defender of the Fatherland Day a national Russian holiday.
This is like a Father day for military veterans.
CoH3 which is riddled with greedy MTX (more to come) and false advertising launched on February 23.
On the same day, February 23 Angry Birds Classic, with no greedy MTX is removed from Google Play Store.
Angry Birds Classic delete;
The classic Angry Birds game is disappearing from the Google Play Store, while having an uncertain future on the iPhone App Store. Rovio made a surprising announcement that their Angry Birds comeback is negatively affecting other Angry Birds games, leading to this awful decision to make the game unavailable to players.
Modern mobile games generally follow the formula of too many microtransactions and ad interruptions, but the classic Angry Birds game represents the golden era of simple fun on the mobile market. With Rovio removing Angry Birds from the Google Play Store, fans aren't gonna be happy.
through the years, you've grown, and we've grown too – but some things will always stay the same. Rovio Classics: Angry Birds is finally back 4 u to enjoy! http://rov.io/AngryBirdsClassic
go pop those piggies, and make me proud. i've missed you...
Sega & Rovio Entertainment shared marketing destiny;
Two corrupt & unethical companies, deserve each other as history repeats itself?
Good riddance.
