Ostruppen are map-dependent (much better on open maps with decent cover) but definitely more viable now against USF. Against soviets they don't seem all that great.
Mobile defense doctrine now seems pretty good vs USF, allowing you to make a strong defense and then rapidly cap out the map when the Ostruppen arrive to help you catch up in mainline infantry numbers.
The lmg Ostruppen in particular seem extremely powerful, with mine racking up 28 kills last game on Langreskaya vs riflemen.
As mobile defence basically allows you to skip T3, the buff to Wehr T4 also helps make the doctrine more appealing against USF. A panther can do serious work to US tanks, while brummbars can help deal with late-game blobs and allow you to push back map control. |
Gneckes, yes, though by mid game (thinking about building T3) you should have a few options available to you. How much map control you can take early and how aggressive you can play will depend on your preferred doctrines and the map you play on. |
Given that shreck accuracy has taken a bit of a hit, I'm less keen for changing anything about the KT. Are you suggesting that only one should be able to be built per player, or per team? |
'No strategic reason' except call-in tanks arrive after many CPs. Playing without heavy tier-based armour can result in losing map control if the enemy produces lots of medium armour. The reduced effectivenss of shrecks in this patch will make it more difficult to stall for Tigers. With this, plus the improved performance of Panthers and the re-work of Brummbars, I think there will be more of a strategic cause to build Ostheer T4. Soviet T4 is still in a pretty bad place.

Luvnest, wouldn't you say that while they may ultimately lose the engagement, they'll still cost-effectively fight riflemen at range considering their lower cost, especially given their higher rate of veterency gained? |
The matchup seems much the same, just that lmg grens will have a slightly harder time vs riflemen. Advice is the same as ever, keep your early troops together and use your mgs intelligently to support them, focussing on defending your cutoff. In even engagements your grens will gain veterency faster than riflemen, giving you less of a disadvantage as the game progresses. Well-protected mortars decimate US infantry with accurate fire. Panzergrenadiers now better perform their role as medium-range flanking infantry, so use them accordingly. The Pak adequately counters pretty much all American armour, so you're generally in a pretty good spot if you survive to mid-late game. |
They're breeding... |
Another thing to remember is that this ability is sustained by a spotter plane. Please, someone correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe the effect is terminated when the plane is shot down. |
Who needs fuel anyway? |
