its in industry, thats why its not used. the manpower drain is too penalizing. the tank itself has issues, but its not the main reason why its so unpopular.
also soviet t3 got a massive nerf when okw came in with schreck blob. its just that much easier to chase tanks away with schrecks than having mediums totally shitting on infantry. industry relies far too heavily on having t3 as its core. so while you are gimped on mp, you are also far too hard countered. thats why industry is rarely used and in turn, kv2 isnt that popular anymore.

i dont see the problem here really. getting multiple is2 is nothing, panthers match them so no biggie. multiple tigers? meh, we have jacksons so its good. soviet dedicated AT could use a slight penetration buff but meh, its still bearable. the problematic ones are KT which is non doctrinal and JT. these 2 are rarely called in pairs and are a 1 man army by themselves because of that 400/500++++ frontal armour and insane gun/range. im not sure why t34/85, ez8 and kv1 are even being talked about. they are just regular medium tanks with abit more hp or more armour, cannot match heavies and require really strong risky flanks to be of any use. these tanks are much harder to use than they are to counter. schrecks eat them alive, AT guns limits their movement, whats so problematic about them? a bigger problem would be discussing abt why soviets constantly needs call in infantry to fill up gaps in their rooster. conscripts cant make it past early game, penals are quite trashy without m3 combo. every single soviet infantry gets smashed in long range and require really risky flanks or superior cover to match german infantry. only guards who can barely match everything except obers and gren lmg blob. schrecks are more likely to be the problem than kv8 itself. its armour cannot resist schreck hits and neither does it have the hp to tank them nor it has the dps/speed to shoot and scoot. reducing schreck efficiency at range, buff rakenten to compensate, kv8 and other medium tanks will suddenly shine. jadgpanzer is pretty boss, just that free flak defense gun, luchs, obers and panthers are a much better tier than t2 and does everything better than t2 can ever do. i always have trouble fighting them and actually, any german tank for the matter. everyone seems to be armed with a panther's gun and armor, frontal shots can never get through. seems like all allied mediums and advanced mediums must flank and get rear hits to do even any damage. with that schreckhorde, its going to end in a fiery death for my tanks. Ciez, I appreciate you trying to be the voice of sanity here, but you are arguing with a bunch of people who are mostly single-faction 4v4 players...sapienti sat. he is only worried for ostheer t3 and tigers, which is valid. but against okw who can get panthers much faster, get heavy tanks with huge armor values, the jacksons is very much underwhelming. the idea is not to buff the jackson which is already in a very good spot, but to nerf the stuff that are really screwing the game up. ie. nerfing laser guided schreck spam + ober combo, JT/KT 400/500+ frontal armor values, okw being too cost efficient tech wise. Remember in vCoH when axis always won because homing missile shrek? vet5 volks is barely the problem, without laser schrecks, they are just punching bags. fuck vet5 volks, who cares if they are just damage sponges, vet dont matter vs tank shots. like jaigen said, tanks miss every shot and dont rely on getting confirmed hits to kill, its scatter + aoe = AI power. low scatter + huge AOE = good AI tank. problem with volksschreckspam vs medium tanks is laser guided schrecks. this is why it is so incredibly hard to counter okw infantry blobs, obers prevents infantry counters, volks rape medium tanks so hard. there's no early armour to punish okw players for spamming so much infantry into heavy tanks without real, dedicated AT, unlike the rest of the factions are so pressured to get. once they cant hit tanks so consistently from max range, fast t34s/shermans will rip them a new one, then they will really need real dedicated AT to deal with tanks. the meta will change the moment this is implemented since okw will be hard pressed to get early medium tank counters(JPz, pumas) and we will see lesser fast luchs -> obers -> ????? -> profit. KT, JT and panthers. also, nerf blitz. jacksons are great against all until panthers and above, when their armour values just are wayyyyy too high, 1 bounce per 3 shots is fine, having 3 consecutive bounces is not. then, there're also sniper schrecks that compounds the problem even further. very awkward unit to use, but when they get their dp28s firing at a good constant pace, they are very useful as a line unit. give dp-28s fotm so its the soviet version of bars, so they dont lose so much dps on the move and unlike bars, dp28s are great at range. In: COH2 Gameplay |
