I don't think he was disagreeing with that assessment at all. You don't need to jump down throats so quickly. The JT does more damage than StuGs per shot, which can really help. Not to mention its got the range to potentially take it out as it tries to escape. Plus, he's speaking of OKW, not Ostheer. Try getting StuGs with OKW. :\| In: COH2 Balance
Thread: What does 'flame damage normalized' actually mean?20 Jul 2016, 17:41 PM Churchills and Crocs require multiple StuGs to defeat reliable or cost effectively. So you have to get the StuGs out preemptively. You have to have the counters out on the field before the British player decides to build a unit you already have the hard counters to. Plus the StuGs need to be already vet 1 at this time. (At least if they aren't the first engagement with a CroC will feed enough xp into the StuGs for it.) Problem is StuGs are pretty much food for every British tank that isn't a Churchill variant. In addition, the Croc can pretty much ignore a quick P4 or P5 and go about its business clearing team weapons and crews, even under fire since they simply can't deal enough damage or use Target Weak Point. The situation is a bit different versus Soviets and their KV8, namely because the stock soviet tanks can be handled by the gambit of Axis armor. A P4 or P5 can be cost effective in that situation since the KV8 doesn't have such a ridiculous health pool, and there's no speedy Cromwells, Fireflies with tulips, or Comets. Soviet armor doesn't have the kind of range, firepower, or shock value as the British, and their timing and availability are much more restricted. In: COH2 Balance

Neither scenario can I attest to, since I haven't really experimented with it ingame with modtools. Either way, changes to the ISGs will necessitate a reworking of the faction tiers. I don't disagree that both ISGs could use some adjustments to make them function better in their roles. Either by converting them towards the mortar end of the spectrum like miragefla more or less is suggesting, or to push them in the opposite direction, away from autofiring and more like an artillery piece with stronger barrages. I'm not sure if you're trying to provoke an argument or what, but what are you getting at? I'm not trying to dump on anyone's opinions here, just stating my own opinions more or less in support of this discussion. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Let's Talk: ISG Performance19 Jul 2016, 16:37 PM I don't disagree with smoke for either ISG. I think the WFA armies could use it on their ISGs most definitely. But then again, I find mortars with smoke work out just fine too. The awkwardness comes either in their timing or their performance. They aren't mortars, but they aren't artillery like the LeFH or any of the rocket artillery units. Trying to place them somewhere in that middleground is the awkward part. I personally would find ISGs performing as mobile artillery pieces, instead of glorified mortar teams with a different model, to work better. But my point is that they're awkward trying to be both, but acting as neither. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Let's Talk: ISG Performance19 Jul 2016, 16:12 PM Both the pak howie and lieg don't fit well into this franchise's gameplay. Artillery (and indirect fire) in general can be particularly limiting in gameplay choices. Their use and availability has to be carefully timed to not destroy the rest of the game which involves cover, suppression, garrisons, and maneuvering around shot blockers. Given that the ISGs were apparently designed to be THE crewed indirect fire of WFA since they both lacked mortars until just recently, I think they're going to be perpetually awkward units. I try and compare both ISGs to the nebelwerfer or landmattress. The role and function that the latter units provide fits better with what players seek to use. Imagine if the land mattress or nebelwerfer just shot single rockets constantly. It'd be annoying and awkward to deal with. If both ISGs were able to send off impressive barrages instead of autofiring it might help the situation. But that's more of an overhaul than anything. However, considering that ISGs have been botched and rebotched since they were released, this isn't too far out of the question. In: COH2 Balance

The Vickers outclasses it in every aspect, except for the veterancy ability of the MG 42. Using that as an argument to claim that the MG 42 is the best MG in the game is like claiming that the Panzer IV's Blitzkrieg ability makes it the best tank in the entire game. I'd be inclined to agree with that, as the Vickers ability to snipe models has always made it seem more dangerous, especially considering axis squad sizes. And the .50 cal will easily compete in every aspect now, especially as it is the most mobile MG in the game - and no, that it is locked behind the LT is not an argument, just like the fact that Ostheer has four Tiers to tech is not an argument for anything. This I can't agree with at all. Those are completely valid arguments. The .50cal does have its niceties, but the timing and pacing of units is huge. The LT can be a problematic tier to rush into solely for an MG. In: COH2 Balance
