You've answered your own question there.

- Raid Sections still want to be shoved with a meta doctrine with another call in unit.
- Tactical Support will forever be a meme in all game modes due to FOP being immobile.

We're currently considering the following changes:
- Raid Section moved from Mobile Assault to Tactical Support;
- Recovery RE moved from Tactical Support to Royal Engineers (flamethrower upgrade added to RRE);

Both would be a better thematic and strategic fit.


And:
- Raid Section either moved to 0 CP as an alternative mainline similar to Riflemen, or moved to 2-3 CP as an elite brute force squad similar to 3x BAR Rangers.

I'm personally not sure which of the latter UKF needs more. The first would give them more diverse build orders and a different play style, but it'd overlap with Assault Sections. The second would give them a better option to fight Axis elites, against which IS can struggle late game.

I'd say it is a side grade for sure, but it is not a clear upgrade as you say

To be honest I think ideally most if not all weapon upgrades should have been like that. Perhaps mainline infantry being excluded. Weapon upgrades should be tactical and interesting choices, each with their own pros and cons, not no brainers. But that's a discussion for another topic.

Panzerfusiliers with a reinforcement halftrack would be a recipe for disaster.


IR STG44 Obers are great at assaulting, they fit the doctrine theme just fine. It's a great upgrade even though it's limited to only one unit. It's there to balance out the raw power of the other abilities.

Grand Offensive is nicely in the middle in terms of popularity in all modes, and the Command Tiger is getting decent buffs. It really doesn't need more changes.

I think the problem with UKF, similar but more so than OKW, is that they are simply overshadowed by the EFA armies that have everything available to them stock. As long as Soviets are viable, even if UKF is totally balanced, people wouldn't pick them because the Soviets are simply more reliable (and quite frankly just because most players hate UKF). We're seeing the same with Ostheer getting picked more often than OKW even though both factions are fairly balanced atm. EFA armies have everything available stock. They don't rely on single cheese/OP units, strats or abilities (anymore). They simply have all the tools available to deal with most opposition. We've only really seen UKF in tournaments at the times they were OP. And even then only some people played them while most preferred USF or Soviets.

What they, OKW and USF really need are complete overhauls with new units, reworking tech, etc. and most importantly moving all the important tools (flamers, indirect, etc.) to their stock rosters. But that's never going to happen. We have to treat every patch as if it was the last. We don't know if Relic wants to pull the plug next week or keep the support going for another year. So we're mostly just stuck with what we got, we can create some wiggle room here and there, tweak some stats here and there, but that's it.

I assume because the weapon upgrade icon has a scope. I've asked the UI guys to remove that on all the "assault rifle" profile G43s. And to add a passive UI icon (similar to the elite Bren/bazooka icons) for the sniper variant on JLI.
