1. Because Relic does it. This tournament and other tournaments were held to improve the game balance. The developers took a more global view of the USF problem after the terrible game of the USF in the 2х2 anniversary classiс and in December 2018 we got good changes
Lol you do realize that I am on the community balance team working with Relic? And that I can definitely assure you that we do not take any tournament's results as an absolute measure for balance? As I said - tournament results are indicative at best. |
What for? I don’t give advice on how to play. And I do not refer to my game. I bring arguments from the tournament. But you give me advice, tell me how powerful Scott and how problems it creates for you, but this was not visible for the entire tournament - among the most successful players. Then the words L2P are more for you.
Don't ask others for their player card if you're not prepared to show yours. If you want to look at mine, you can use the ladder thumbnail on the right and sort for 3v3 and you'll find me in the top 10 of most factions there.
Furthermore I don't know why you'd base your argument solely on the results of a 2v2 tournament, that 1) is an incredibly low sample size that doesn't really mean anything (it's indicative at best, but never conclusive) and 2) does not represent all the other game modes that the game has to be balanced for as well. In this case, M8 Scotts are really strong in 3v3 and 4v4 so that is a big argument against buffing them, even if they weren't used in that one 2v2 tournament. |
KT's MG could suppress infantry while "Spearhead Mode" is active.
Only the hull MG deals suppression with Spearhead. |
Rip JT.
The black sheep of the super heavy tank destroyers finally put out of its misery in relic's slaughterhouse.
It requires only the upgraded SPHQ, or it should at least. Also, Jagdtiger will likely receive some nice changes
|
And what is your rank? I want to know which player is telling me this. Your words do not coincide with reality
Out of curiosity would you mind sharing yours? |
You said the same thing when OKW and Ostheer used to have an early tigers, and the Allies also demanded pershing and IS2 was also early? Oh, you probably miss those times.
What are you talking about? Allied heavies were always intended to receive the same CP/tech overhaul as the Tigers one patch later. The Tigers were just the testing prototype. It was made very clear on multiple occasions. |
I saw how early walking stuka pays off in a tournament. Why are you writing your opinion? The tournament showed everything, your opinion doesn’t matter now. Experienced players can use this advantage. And if this is such a bad idea, why not transfer the walking stuka to T3?
I'm sorry but do you have any idea what you're talking about at all? Early Stukas are a risk because they severely delay the arrival of armor because of their high fuel cost. The reason early Stukas were meta is because they could be followed up with the techless Command Panther at 225 fuel to counter Allied medium and heavy tanks that started arriving (in numbers) around the same time. Now with the Command Panther getting tied to tech, the earliest available vehicle would be a Jagdpanzer at 270 fuel, at which point the Allies can have up to 3 medium tanks already.
This is not a risk at all. This is a great advantage of the fraction, which allows you to call such a powerful artillery so early.
"is also not a universal or even valid argument" Of course, when you are a fan of OKW, this is not an argument. And if you care about balance, this is a fair claim. The USF should get a calliope outside the doctrine, or get a Scott as early as possible. Let the USF also put itself at risk. Risk giving a lot of reward.
It seems to me that just people know that it's cool to have such a walking stuka. And talking about risk is just an excuse and is done to distract attention.
Again, I'm sorry to be blunt, but it seems to me that you have no idea how the game and its inner economic and gameplay mechanics or faction designs actually work. We don't put a unit in a certain place in faction A just because faction B has a similar unit in a certain place. There'd need to be way better arguments for that. |
The Flame Hetzer's a good unit, but its position in the tech tree means it's rarely a viable pick. By the time you can build it you need your own medium tanks out.
I disagree, I use the Hetzer rush a lot in 3v3s and it has really good shock value even at SPHQ being 120 fuel. It's easy to compensate its lack of AT by building 2 Raketens in preparation. Allies can't do much about it without medium tanks as it quite easily kills ATGs and AT infantry, and Allied lights (except SU-76, but who builds SU-76 as their first T3 unit) can't really touch it when there's Volks and Raketens around. SPHQ for 80 fuel was really pushing its timing to the max already. At 60 fuel I believe it would come too soon.
It might not be as good in 1v1s with slower resources, but it seems like it's not possible to fix it for that mode without making it broken in team games.

The results of the tournament suggest otherwise. Watch the Masters Cup tournament. There the early walking stuka was a wipe machine.
Sure, let's completely ignore the fact that early Stukas were only possible because of Spec Ops Doctrine's Command Panther. Which is getting addressed next patch. Having to tech SPHQ to get tanks will make going for early (double) Stuka(s) extremely risky.
"Faction A needs the thing because faction B has the thing" is also not a universal or even valid argument. |
Though what I think I disagree with is locking the MG upgrade once you acquire them.
I dont see why they should really lock it.
Well, obviously because the IR STG44 and LMG 34 upgrades are way too powerful to unleash as early as ~6-7 minutes into the game (easily achieved with team games resource inflation).
Otherwise, what is the point?
Fitting them into your build easier, and getting them early when enemy infantry isn't fully vetted and upgraded yet and tanks aren't roaming the battlefield already so they can start working towards their crucial vet 2 as soon as possible. If used from behind heavy cover, stock Obers should quite easily win vs most Allied infantry at that time.
