I like the Flame Hezter but its cost puts it out of reach.
On some maps it can be a a big help since OKW has no real sustainable way of fighting garrisons.
But the late CP and high fuel cost put it in a stupid spot, essentially at that point in the game if you buy one you are sacrificing lots of early fuel that you really need for a P4 or Panther, it is a super super risky move. So you just never see the unit at all.
It needs CP reduction and fuel reduction but maybe MP increase to compensate. |
I guess that the approach you described doesn't sell commanders very well.
Now we get to the truth of the mater. Likely why the community team has their scope set so low too, Relic afraid they will impact sales. |
Or, M4C: With this commander you could actually play without ever teching. If you don't, you could potentially have tons of fuel which you can dump into Shermans eventually. However, it also means that you don't have access to many units. So, decisions...
This is not valid for larger game modes, the player can just build t1/t0 units and support an ally until said player has the CP required, then spam the poisen.
I can see your point in 1v1 or 2v2 even but it is utter stupidity in larger game modes. It's almost like the game needs two different commanders, one for 3v3+ and one for 1v1 and 2v2. |
Brace on its own isn't really the issue though. It's the combination of the cancer commanders abilities that make it difficult to deal with.
The key is really to kill the forward HQ first. But that is often very hard to do because mortar pits can fight back very effectively. Maybe if we reduced the range of the passive repair from it and upped the respawn time of the engineers that come out of it after they die it might reduce the impact of the forward HQ. |
If you break it down, CPs are time, which is not really a currency, because it is not something you can earn or spend. Just because you spent currency on a bunch of units that don’t require teaching currency that can soft-counter both AI and AT does not mean you should be rewarded with spamming tanks with the hoarded fuel.
I disagree with out analysis of time, thinking of it as a currency doesn't make much sense but it is a very important element of the game. How ever I do think needing to tech should be a thing. At this point the EZ8 and M4C spam call ins on larger games (3v3 or 4v4) it can be utter poison.
P.S
Why do i need to pick a commander to build a stock unit (KT). I realize that I should have picked a commander this late in the game, but I should have the option to counter-pick a commander at any point in the game.
I tend to agree with this, and it is eternally annoying that I have to be forced to pick a commander in order to get a non-doctrinal unit.
I also agree with previous comments, some kind of overhaul into the system needs to be thought about I think. |
We are not discussing other BS commanders here, this thread is not to find out which has the most cancer. The point that most commentators here make is that it takes extremely little skill, effort and micro to be succesful, or at least to annoy the hell out of your opponent.
But try to play Minsk Pocket against this commander. You will have much fun, believe me. At guns get countered by the mortar pit, your indirect fire gets countered by counter-artillery, and at the same time his emplacements will be auto-repaired! If his mate plays USF, this guy can push and safely retreat until they get the nice Comet/Calliope combination and you slowly drain out of victory points. Sounds extremely fun, doesnt it?
It's not just map depended, also game mode can be a thing. In 4v4 you can have 2+ Brits do exactly the same thing on a key fuel point. Then they just stall until they can run you down with Comets. I hope with the pending Comet changes it will be less cancer. |
Guys it sucks the OKW lost their early faust
I play lots and lots of OKW, fav faction since release (through the ups and downs) and the only real reason I wanted earlier faust was because of flame clown car.
Good micro on an early flame clown car just wrecked OKW hard. But they seem to be a bit rarer these days (probably since penal don't get flame throwers any more) so probably no super early fault wont be such a big deal. Or maybe they are rarer because of early faust? My brain hurts....
The Bren (or what ever it's called) is pretty damaging early too but it doesn't really have the mobility to run circles around a Reketon like a flame clown car does. |
Why does the USF need the mortar in the first place?
No idea, the team that really needed smoke and didn't get it was OKW. I just do not understand at all.
As for the new mortar. I was always used to using smoke grenades so I never really got into the habit of using the mortar for smoke barrage, I always just used normal barrage then shift move somewhere else; so largely in this way it hasn't changed that much for me.
But the few times I have wanted to use it for smoke I have timed it badly because it has been too far and had shorter range (slow learner much), so that is my fault I guess.
Do people skip unlocking nades for faster Captain and focus more on smoke from mortar? What is a good meta to go with? |
So by your logic we shouldn't ever touch balance again, out of fear of breaking something?
What are you talking about? No where did I say it will break balance or be useless. The example of the USF mortar that you used did break balance though, badly; Like they had to hot fix it bad.
You should try it yourself before you further comment on how it will break balance or how useless it will be, it might change your mind.
I clearly wasn't making the point that nothing should be changed, what ever logic you are coming up with is alcohol induced I think (the best kind amirite). What I am trying to say is that very slowly, patch by patch every team is just becoming every other team. I don't think totally overhauling units is the answer, I think maybe trying to balance the units as best we can might be a better one. |
i dislike the idea of on field weapon upgrades just seems stupid... just make the units costly and good like they should be... and come on board with the upgrades, just like falls.
Spammable callins sounds very aids, they should be a rare and situational, this is why partisans are so aids, they are spammable.
Maybe just a dirty long cool down on some of the better ones might help. |
