Strange results, If allies were so bad OP. 
I guess you are not overly serious, but if you check out the
announcment thread there was some discussion on if the typical "allies OP" would hold up in annihilation mode.
The sample size obviously is really small, so no definite answer here. Also, the skill gap between opponents was probably pretty significant in the majority of matches, which would bias everything towards 50:50.
That said, the map choices are kind of interesting: Most rounds were Bo1. The rules were that the winner of coin toss picked faction, the other than picked the map. Now, the most picked map is Steppes and the second most picked map is Ettelbruck station. According to
this, these are among the least balanced maps with Steppes favoring axis, while Ettelbruck favors allies (albeit in 3v3, it doesn't seem to be in the 4v4 pool).
If I were to hazard a guess how that came about, it would be that most coin toss winners picked allies, and then the losers picked Steppes to counter that. A few teams might have picked Axis, and similarly Ettelbruck was picked to counter that choice.
