Just stop, I'm already sick of it. There is not a single documentary confirmation that the USSR had soldiers without weapons. Yes, during the formation of the People's Militia, all available weapons were used, but it was armed. In the report on the interrogation of the Soviet Sergeant - a training instructor who prepared the Leningrad militia - they were well armed and dressed in uniforms. Tula militiamen who came from the factory workers used SVT-40s which they produced.
There is no documentation of many things, but that dont mean it wouldnt make a fun thing/ability in the game
12 men Conscripts squad, but the additional six are unarmed, so DPS is the same, but survavilability doubled
If you have seen Enemy at The Gates or played CoD1, you know the drill ukfsovietssoviets"The man with the rifle shoots! The one with ammo goes with him. And once they kill the one with the rifle, the one with ammo picks it up and shoots!"ukfsovietssoviets
HI guys,
instead of posting complete design ideas of new commander concepts i would like to discus here solely new units which could be used for the new commanders. The most important thing imo is to discuss if these units could have a real role in the game.
To give you an overview of units which could be used i checked SneakEye's mod.
Please keep in mind that i did not include units like Brandenburgers who are already in the game with a different name (Stormtroopers) or just have different weapons (PIAT Commandos).
You can complement the list of course if i forgot units.
Units that could be used for new commanders
• Advanced Pioneer Support Squad (Wehr)
• Gebirgsjäger (Wehr)
• Fallschirmjäger (Wehr)
• Urban Panzergrenadiers (Wehr)
• Panzerjäger Squad (OKW)
• Fallschirm-Pioniere (OKW)
• Volkssturm Squad (OKW)
• Jagdpanzer 38 Hetzer (OKW)
• Sniper (OKW, USF)
• Tank Hunter Conscript Squad (Soviet)
• Reconnaissance Section (UK)
• Forward Observation Officer (UK)
I start with the easy choice - OKW's tankhunter squad. These unit would be a worthy addition to the faction because OKW doesn't have good handheld AT units.
I could see 2 options for the Panzerjäger squad:
4 men unit starts with 2 ant-tank rifles 39 and can be upgraded to 2 schrecks for 100 mun.
4 men unit already comes equipped with double schrecks
I would prefer the first option.
Mostly agreed except for the snipers. No more of that BS. (And I say that as someone who heavily relies on them when playing Eastern Armies)
Id appreciate a counter sniper though. A scout with extra camo and vision, who has 0 damage on his rifle but 100 damage against snipers (via target tables)
Pathfinder spam is deadly at the beginning, but on late stage though they will struggle a lot if your opponent knows how to counter by mass blob of their own like Ostruppen or Volksgrenadier, or just quickly bring vehicles like brumba or p4 to shoo away your blob.
Giving bar to Pathfinder is a good option, or if you have british friend to give u Vickers LMG that would also be interesting.
Yeah, Ive done the LMG donation a couple times. Good thing
BTW
I have another idea. Teammate with a mechanized, donating me a jeep, to put my paths into. Would it be better than a Vickelrs UC?
I wish that Stuka had some higher requirements to field, so that it can't come out so early. Having three trucks built, similar to the conditions for the KT would at least delay its tech further and bring it in line with other SP arty like Katyushas / Panzerwerfers. It should be considered a late game unit, right now it only requires a minimum of 15+45+100 (15 for truck, 45 for mechanized, 100 for stuka) (160) fuel assuming you ignore Battlegroup and go straight for a Mechanized regiment. Hell, even if you get out a puma, or a luchs you will still get it out much earlier than any allied player that invests nothing in light or medium armor would get a similar unit out.
Hell, just requiring two trucks for the stuka to be build would help tremendously with how early they come out in team games.
Compare it to much less potent arty like the Katyusha / Panzerwerfer, which require 10+85+90+85 (270) fuel minimum for katyusha, and 10+40+90+25+25+85 (275) for Panzerwerfer.
It's just insane to me that the most potent SPA in the game can be called out within the first 15-20 minutes of the game if the axis team is playing well enough, which they usually are.
Gettin an early Stuka opens one up for some brutal quick medium/pre-timely heavy tank rape
I'd suggest having at least two riflemen because you gonna need them to push against green cover and flanking MG
Well, its obvious that I will eventually get more riflemen, but in a specific one situation where Im… lets say facing two volks/grens squads, will it be more likely to defeat them with a riflemen squad that has a Paths squad slighty behind them, or do I have more chance with double rifles squad
