I don't because the game is sometimes so stupid and bugged that the leIG/pak howie will walk into the enemy direction to "search" for the marked squad if it disappears in the fog of war.
I like attack ground of barrage is on cool down |
Didnt want to Sound rude, sorry. I just thought it's normal to Micro his units (includng mortars and Light artillery)
I don't think you were rude, I agree with you. I only let mortars autofire when I am too busy elsewhere. Otherwise I am using barrage for extra rate of fire to saturate at target or use attack ground, third most used is to target in individual unit if it's part of an on the move blob but you do have to be careful to make sure to issue the stop command once they're out of range since you don't want your mortar running after them. |
It was just terrible, at some point you'll forget your squad since you've to micro more important things. Mortars don't have to be micro'ed, why should the Pack Howie and LeIG be micro'd then Kappa.
I have not tried the patch, but I always micro my unit mortars because I like to use a tech ground on my been teams and barrage as well. Or I will tell them to fire at a squad that is part of a blob I find I will always get to vet three mortars if I don't suffer a white in a decent length game. The infantry support gun and howitzer both deal suppression and have more range than mortars and do more vehicle damage so they should at least require some micro or be nerfed.
Please relic keep change or nerf performance and kept auto rotate |
Well said! I also want to appreciate the input from Relic personnel - keep it up!
Wish more people would, we want to encourage and need to encourage them when they do things right. I don't want to sugarcoat the many problems and failures that had but if all we do is criticize, we will likely end up losing an RTS that we love despite it's flaws and I do not want that because I have nowhere else to go. |
Do you think there's any chance they will buff the stug E since they bumped it back by 2 CP. it has very low health for a tank/assault gun and no hull MG nor pintle MG upgrade so it relies entirely on its main gun which leads to very inconsistent damage IMHO. |
Thank you relic for coming on and posting on the forums. I can only speak for myself but the more you come on and engage the Fanbase and provide balance/patching support the more likely I am to purchase new DLC. Compare this to Rome total war two which was so terrible for so long that I did not buy any expansions or DLC and have dropped that franchise from my future purchases list. And I had bought every title and every expansion From the very first Shogun. Keep up the good work and please keep engaging the community on new content, balancing and tournament play. |
vehicles and armor are very micro intensive and less forgiving...but you don't need mgs or mortars to win early battles as you have the best infantry and often you want to charge to close range with bars/grenades anyway so I think in all it is a wash. Early game, easy micro just stay spread out so MG's can't pin all your squads. Late game, be on point to keep Jacksons at range and shermans firing smoke and crit repairing when shermans take too much damage. |
If Relic wanted to change that, then they should move its range back to at least 90. Then like in real life, you would have to scout your enemies position and take out the Pak before marching forward (think infantry take down of 88 batteries on Normandy in BoB so they could bring their armor forward). That would add a fun element instead of super easy to de-crew, fires through obstacles BS we have now. |
If the tanks could hull themselves down teh ability would get used a lot more since my infantry are rarely idle with time on their hands to do things like hull down. They are either healing, capping, fighting, scouting...will keep trying to use this ability becuase it is intriguing but I just liked the Churchill in vCOH hull down so much better although it wasn't realistic so I shouldn't complain. |
It's not that they're more fragile, but it's due to the fact their standing still which leaves them vulnerable to long-range AT in general, particularly ATGs. It also limits your ability to respond to mobile Allied armour and this is furthered by the fact you need an infantry squad to hulldown the tank in the first place.
It's not a garbage ability, but unlike some abilities, its situational which is ideal in more urban maps where you can't bring up long-range AT without being fired upon or you want to set a defensive position in an open map and force out ATGs.
just used this in 3 games of 4v4 last ngiht whenever I could get a chance with idle troops I would put my commmand tank/ostwind/etc hulled down behind shotblockers to ward off infantry pushes and it was nice however it often had to get cancelled with no effect becuase ATG or enemy tanks would appear so all in all no disadvantage and sometimes good but I think it's really only viable on inf support tanks in maps with shot blockers because otherwise you are asking to get overwhelmed by AT wall and you will just have to pick up and move back. |
