The IS2 is very durable because it doesn't face 60 range high penetration TDs. Of course with armour/penetration it's a lot about RNG. You can have a P4 pen an IS2 twice in a row if luck is on your side. Especially due to how rear armour works in COH2. Often times shots from the front that are slightly angled end up counting as rear armour hits.
Again, the JP IV needs better penetration and the StuG needs a better vet 2 bonus (vet 2 is almost useless). This would already go a long way to balance allied heavy tanks. |

Soviets are simply too strong lategame.
That's due to permanent buffs for Soviets and nerfs especially to Ostheer.
7 men squads + 6 men weapon crews are strong enough. Couple that with gimmicks like the ZIS barrage, ISU-152 that can rule supreme, way too potent KV1s, 60 range tds and an insane IS-2 and you get a super strong lategame faction.
Now consider that Ostheer was nerfed hard enough anyway. With brummbär nerfs (not allowed to counter AT guns), veterancy nerfs to vehicles (vet 2 on the StuG doesn't do much for example) and no decent artillery (Panzerwerfer can kill one weapon crew on a perfect hit but can't cover an area; LeFH was overnerfed aswell) and you can not counter Soviet lategame.
The IS-2 is way more suvrivable because there is no 60 range td with high pen (StuG is 50 range, JPIV for OKW has no pen).
In short: The Soviet in general has too much staying power on the field and can not be pushed off.
The solution: Buffs to Ost T4 at the very least, especially to the Panzerwerfer (maybe even a redesign). Ost needs some decent artillery options that can break a stalemate with the russians, 105mm and Werfer don't cut it. OKW needs some vet redesigns, especially for the JPIV (more pen). |

To balance the game just keep the design as it was intended.
Germans get lategame quality, Soviets get numbers.
That can be fixed with an Ostheer T4 buff (Brummbär range back to 40, slight armor increase, Panther accuracy buff) and OKW vet buffs (you know... the faction that was supposed to have 5 vet levels).
Imo US also dominate with Rifles and Jacksons that this won't screw the balance. As for Brits? Well those need a total redesign anyways. |

Not surprised since Ostheer lategame was nerfed out of the game.
Panther is mediocre. Brummbär has no armor and range left. Panzerwerfer is strange design. That cuts the "premium" tier Ost was supposed to have otu of the game.
All while Soviets were buffed for the lategame (IS-2, Conscript lategame, KV buffs). Combine that with easier micro since the support weapons (especiall Zis and maxim) have better survivability and spammable cheap units and Sovs have pretty much every advantage in the game. Oh and Ostheer MG 42s don't turn fast enough. |

I honestly wouldn't mind the PAK43 not being able to shoot through shot blockers if it got brace.
Atm you HAVE to place it behind obstacles to not get instantly spotted and bombed. |

I like some kind of realism. At the end of the war the Panther made up about half the German tank force (not including SPGs in here). So it shouldn't be doctrinal. Also Ost needs something that can fight tanks and has more standing power than the StuG.
What I would like on the contrary are non-doctrinal T-34/85s or 76mm Shermans. Replace the doctrinal abilities with something else. That would be interesting.

Iirc the Tiger Ace requires T4 being built while the regular Tiger just needs the battlephase researched.
Also the regular Tiger comes at 9 cps (Ace at 11) and less fuel cost.
So the regular Tiger can be rushed out more easily. |
